This plugin was so inspiring and good sounding I actually bought a real 1959.

I just did a demo and bought this within 5 minutes. I also ordered a quad satellite to double the DSP of my Apollo 8P for mixing. UAD plug-ins are heads above the rest.

These are made by softube correct? The bundle on UA is 399 but if you buy them individually they’re 89 each. Kind of confusing

At 1:12 you stated: "A good starting point for most guitars is to set it at its minimum, which is the 10 db setting" I'm a little confused on what you mean with that statement I see you're turning the Apollo's large know down to zero to demonstrate and all the green LEDs are going off. I have an Apollo 8 and if I attempt to do that from my front panel preamp knob, I am cutoff all signal from my guitar. My preamp knob has a range of zero at the minimum to 10 at the maximum. How should I interpret your statement with respect to an Apollo 8 (as opposed to the Twin you used).Thank you.
@UniversalAudio4 жыл бұрын
When placed in the Unison slot (as it should be), you can ignore this instruction as the gain staging is taken care of for you.
@fredmanteghian59134 жыл бұрын
@@UniversalAudio ah ok! Thank you for such a quick response. However should I also be trying to maintain a nice range of -21 dB to -15db within the Unison slot?
@UniversalAudio4 жыл бұрын
When an amp sim is in the Unison slot, the gain of the pre is the gain knob of the amp. So you set it as desired.

@@UniversalAudio is it safe to put a high gain fuzz/tone shaper pedals before the Apollo in the unison slot? Or would one need to adjust the input gain down to work properly with the plug-in?
@JohannesLabusch3 жыл бұрын
That outro was a mess.
@directed69243 жыл бұрын
1:24 You must turn down the input level so that it peaks in the range of minus 35-40 dBFS before it hits the plugin. That's the way it works. Otherwise it will sound like complete shit.

I'm gonna ask a stupid question. Would you not use a Cab sim with this? Did they record with the just the amp and no cab back in the day? I'm learning so any information would be helpful. Thanks!

A silly question - do i need the Universal Audio box you plugged into at 1:20 or can i just use my Focusrite box?

No, you need an Apollo to run our plugins in realtime.

this is awesome. I am aware that the plugin is exclusive for uad users but does it mean that i have to use EVERYTHING uad ?is it okay if i use the uad-2 sattelite but use an audio interface from a different manufacturer/brand?
@UniversalAudio7 жыл бұрын
No, it does not. You can use a UAD-2 Satellite to run UAD plug-ins with a non-Apollo interface. However, you will be missing out on the benefits of Unison technology on Unison-enabled plug-ins. www.uaudio.com/blog/unison-quick-tip/
@rt-uh6mt7 жыл бұрын
I have a UAD-2 and use an Audient interface. The Audient gets me very nice clean (relatively uncolored) tracks in Ableton which I can then shape with plugins. I get the point about tracking with Unison but for me I'm happy with what I have right now. So it works good either way.

The most iconic sound of the Marshall Plexi is the cranked up sound. Maybe they could've thought of demoing that sound when they did this demo. But they didn't.
@Turboy655 жыл бұрын
It's not the same as the real thing. It's a very usable alternative but there will never be a substitute for the feelings of sheer joy, awe, and terror that come from plugging into a 1959 Plexi full stack with jumpered inputs and the volumes somewhere around 10 and something, then turning up your Les Paul's volume knob and...KRANG!!!!!

Like the man said in the video, only those who don't know what they are doing turn everything on those amps to 10, especially with the channels jumpered....
@Turboy652 жыл бұрын
@@Heatfarmer Since I don't like TOO much bass, if I run V1 high, V2 will be kept at a lower level. But otherwise, diming a Plexi may be the way to get the best tone out of it. It depends on the individual amplifier. Every one is slightly unique. I don't run mine clean and treat it as a pedal platform.
@Heatfarmer2 жыл бұрын
@@Turboy65 Me neither, but there really is a difference in running the bright channel wide open with tone controls maxed out on one hand and trying to put them into use on the other hand (Flat out is simplified basically no tone controls). You can crank it, but i still have to find any 1959 or 1987 that sound best that way.

How do I add a noise gate when using this amp? How did you manage to record it without the guitar noise?
@alexbreyer69216 жыл бұрын
It may just have a low noise factor with this software, but both Universal Audio and about any DAW software will have some type of limiter that you can dial in like a noise gate. No worries on that.
@MagicTouchMedia1006 жыл бұрын
Alex Breyer can you recommend which limiter will be most efficient? Thx
@GabrielXDrums6 жыл бұрын
Guy Lugassy just get a noise gate pedal, or even better, what I've been using on my guitar tracks, a Horizon Precision Drive that feels cleaner and tighter than a TS808 but also has a dedicated built in gate. Works wonders.

The top end and all these plugins is ridiculous. A digital artifact mess. Real amps do not sound like this. I own 4 Marshalls 1 is a true plexi era Marshall from 1969.
@jimnorrison84812 жыл бұрын
I agree. I'm not sure how others can tolerate the overly brash top end. Not one of my Marshalls sounds like this. In addition, unlike the real thing, you can't get a decent metal tone out of this amp sim (or the UAD 2203). Strange.
