The University of Arizona College of Engineering works to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to get a world class engineering education.
A first-generation American of Ethiopian parents, Nebyate Seged was struggling to figure out how he could afford to follow his educational dreams. Then something magical happened. Scholarships turned those dreams into a reality.
Since then, Neb thrived as a member of the College of Engineering community. He has been extensively involved on campus and was selected as a member of the prestigious Bobcats Senior Honorary in recognition of his service to the University of Arizona. Most recently, he served as president of the National Society of Black Engineers, where he led the professional development of his fellow members. He was also recognized as a Ronald E. McNair Achievement Scholar and funded by the U.S. Department of Education to conduct research alongside Paul Blowers, a university distinguished professor.
