A song that was, is, and will always be current. It was sung for South Africa then but it could apply to many countries even today. Music at its best, AND gifted to the world from Birmingham 💌🌹

Beautiful! Fantastic! I used to play this song a lot as a deejay in The Netherlands and the audience reacted with the fist upright. Amandla Awethu! There is no UB40 without Ali.

I can't stop tears from my eyes, I grew up listening to this great song and hope to see Mr. Mandela out of jail some day. The days were cold with the feeling of all humiliation yet hoping for better days. In Tanzania, we hosted many freedom fighters from South Africa and provide intelligence with the help of Mr Castro of Cuba. The houses they were being accommodated still stand today. Sad that, the degree of feeling of struggle we had as African youths is not existing any more now. Time has gone far

Never got to hear this song in concert. Hope Ali is upon Australian shores SOON, singing us hope and a vote of confidence that we, too, can build bridges in OUR sacred country. Just generally, I'd go for a vote of confidence that I can do it - singing my song...

The loss of Astro was profound UB40 was never the same after. Ali has the original voice that made the band it’s sad that they lost their way because they came from such a humble beginning 🙂 being from the unemployment benefit form in the uk 🇬🇧 in Birmingham to this worldwide music success story

Ub 4 was is a band, that apart the cool (reggea music) they play, had the courage tho shout out loud against apartheid, in 86 through this music, long before the end of that vicious regime ended (in the early 90`s). That`s remarkable, knowing what consequences the could have taken (in those days of the 80`s) on their carreers

This was for South Africa and everyone living in an unjust world. These guys have no clue what they meant for the black man's struggle and continue to mean. 🙆These are really powerful words 😭😭Only white guys in those days could sing songs of freedom with fist✊in the air 👏👏👏👏 I love UB40. The messengers ✊Was as their concert in BW when they couldn't possibly perform in ZA due to 'aparteit' Easter Sunday 1989🇧🇼🇬🇧🇿🇦🇯🇲

Who wrote the words for this song? Its so very powerful. "We will no longer hear your command, We will seize the control from your hand" This song was so powerful - it says no more talk, its over, its ended and we are in charge now. You are not relevant anymore. Not seen this level of determination and such a dramatic reversal before or since. Maybe historians can educate me further on that point but I think we need to indoctrinate this level of feeling and empowerment in people the whole world over, especially in light of the danger with our climate. Amandla; AWETHU !! (Power; TO US!) Stand up and fight for what you believe in.

No indoctrination. It is organically driven. And a nation is built with this realization, harnessed.

Judi O'Regan Wasn't his fault, the management screwed them all over and Ali just decided "No more." What a shame Robin couldn't see it too.

Noticed that on all these UB40 mid 90's South Africa Videos they only ever show the crowd from a distance or a distorted close up view, it was meant to be The New South Africa and yet still hardly any Black people in the crowd.
