Ubase commits K1m to Mama Bank

The Secretary for the Department of Community Development and Religion, Jerry Ubase, made a commitment of K1 million as an SME loan pack for mothers in the country to the Women’s Micro Bank.
This was announced during the National Research Institute Chairman’s Seminar Series, Thursday 6 June, 2024 at the Madang Resort Hotel. The Women’s Micro Bank or “Mama Bank” as commonly known throughout Papua New Guinea, was first established in 2010 but later operated with a banking business license in 2014. Interestingly, Mama Bank is the first women’s micro bank in PNG and the Pacific region.
