For some reason using the same M.2 USB mount Acronis always gets to the very end, less than a second before completion and say the Clone failed. When you reload to try again the image its created looks right. Don't know what is going on as it gives no error log, simply states it didn't complete.

For anyone stumbling in here with problems, Acronis told me a few things. First, backup the existing M.2. Then install the new M.2 into the computer and put the existing in the USB adapter, so you are copying into the PC from the stick. This still didn't work for me, but because I had backed up the existing to a 256GB USB with folders and partitions in place, I put my new M.2 in (1TB instead of 256GB) and copied using Acronis my image back onto that drive. That worked perfectly. Then I used AOMEI to take the unallocated space and merge it with the existing C: drive and voila success. Don't know why this wouldn't work this way. Always got to the very end "syncing with windows" and failed.
