I know he's had mana problems before but I never fully appreciated how incredibly good the gourds giving back mana was until James fought the Cyan Loong. He just kept using magic tricks over and over again. It was great.

He beat Yin Tiger in one try and beat Yellow Loong so fast, I struggled so hard with the tiger and still haven’t beaten Yellow Loong 😭😭

The editor most likely cut out many of jame's tries where not much content happen to cut some time on the vod

His record with most of the loongs have been pretty impressive tbh. Even with the black loong, he found the dodge pattern on his first try where most people (including myself) just decided to stand on the rock to avoid the shockwaves. Also he's done what you said with his stances generally underleveled lol well played James

@@coder49to be fair, he pretty much got around 50-60% of the way through chapter 4 main path before going back to the other loongs. So he’s actually over leveled when it comes to fighting the first and second chapter. Third and fourth were more up to his level hence why those bosses were able to kill him. I’d say this was pretty “normal” based on all that.

NON-SPOILER (Just a tip): Everytime you beat Yin Tiger (blacksmith guy you "Challenge"), you can unlock another curio slot. It's once per game, so you can get a 3rd curio slot your first time around, then your 4th curio slot in New Game +, then your fifth (and final) curio slot in NG++.

Another tip bc I just noticed it (and lots of KZbinrs and streamers have been confused by this move): Whirlwind Strikes (The Thrust Stance ability where you perform Tactical Retreat -> Heavy Attack -> Light Attack), where you start spinning the staff in their face like an egg mixer. You have to *hold light attack* to keep it going. That's why you keep only spinning it once or twice. So, Light Attack -> Heavy -> Heavy -> hold Light. Takes a while to figure out the timing but it's definitely worth it as it can stun lock lots (but not all) of bosses.

Literally, the only thing preventing me from getting this game is the lack of a map. If this game was linear than ok, I guess but there’s so many different directions that you can go. I know it has to be extremely frustrating.

You do not need a map for this game at all. It's linear with multiple paths, many that end up converging together seamlessly like in FromSoft games.
