In an old server I played on, the melon launcher WAS probably the best item... it had infinite ammo, but it took a few seconds to reload and it only had 3ammo per clip, to get more you would have to throw it on the groun and pick it up again. It instakilled everyon you hit and launched their ragdolls out of the map, so they couldn't be searched.
