I have a ‘51 Navy Colt 2nd generation “C” series and a 3rd generation Colt ‘61 Navy. Love them both, but like loading and shooting the ‘61 better. Also like the blade front site and balance on the ‘61 and it’s the most accurate black powder that I own. All in all, have to give the nod to the’61 and it’s a beauty.

I grew up shooting the 51 navy so I'll always lean towards that piece BUT I have 2 Uberti 61 Navy Colts, seriously nice guns. Beautifully accurate! I did notice my newer Ubertis have serious inconsistency with nipples, inside and out, not flush, thickness, length too. More recent years Pietta has better nipples. However, I almost never keep factory nipples. I switched to Track of the Wolf nipples and never had a problem again, no jams, no blowback, caps fit properly ect. They are more period correct and act as originals should, they let you know how dependable these guns really were at the time. Super video, love watching, don't usually comment but this is one nice revolver. Has anyone produced a video for the Remington Navy 36 Uberti? Anyway, thanks for the cool vids!

I always liked the 1861 Navy, my old man has one it is a great shooter. I still like the 1862 Police , just a tad shorter and lighter but both are great pistols.

I just got an older 62 a few weeks ago. I've got to say any of the .36 Colts are my favorite.

How does the Cimarron 1861 differ from a regular Uberti 1861?

I didn't know the Uberti came with a brass triggerguard. Do they make an1861 with a steel backstrap?

Yes, they call them the London models.

Hey Duke, I recently bought an Uberti 1861 navy, and when I got it home I took it out of the box and cleaned all the preservative grease off, after finishing that I put it back together and I noticed a slight wobble between the barrel assembly and the frame, is that normal? Thanks!

Howdy Lance. I've never noticed that on any of mine, maybe the wedge needs to be driven in a bit tighter? If it doesn't affect accuracy, I wouldn't be too overly worried.

The 51 is a great gun. Its also a tad bit lighter.

took mine made it a cartridge conversion 6 extra bolt slots in the cylinder so you can carry it with 6 safely in betwwen the chambers, had the barrel lined to 38 cal. put an army grip frame on it ( all nickel ) load lever nickel, synthetic bone grips, wire bolt spring & complete slick job, now it's a carry gun.
