That is exactly where I was getting stuck. I did not know you can configure multiple SSIDs, and each to a specific VLAN, as my current AP does not allow it. I will be getting a Unifi AP to replace mine.

I have a similar setup ER4 and Edgeswitch 24 lite. How do you ge the switch0 interface to show up on the ER dashboard? My setup works but I don’t have the switch0 showing so I don’t think I have my vlans configured properly. Thanks

Good video. But i have a EdgeMAX 5-PoE router. When i try to do as you in 7:44 mins, i get this error: "platform does not support vlan settings in switch0 Value validation failed". What to do?

I recently bought the USW Flex Mini hoping I could integrate it into my current network (Meraki MX65 router with an MR42 AP - required for my work from home setup). No success as of yet. So I was considering the Edgerouter ER-X to work with the Flex Mini to somehow work in conjunction with, but bypass the Meraki network, as I wanted to have a separate VLAN for Home/Personal stuff

Is the Edge switch 10x required in this setup? Can the Edge Router X handle the switching for the VLAN's and you trunk a port through to the AP AC and let that handle the wireless networks?

Hey! So, I noticed in the switch VLAN configuration, you didn't check any Trunk Port boxes, why is that? I was thinking you would have checked that for Port 1 if that's the port moving your three VLANs between the router and the switch...

I have edgerouter x, wan is incoming on eth0 on vlan1, and I also want to use the same interface eth0 for vlan10 in both directions to have a lan with network 192.168.2.xx.. I have tried everything.. I get the dhcp to give out adresses on eth0 to the switch on the other side.. but I can't seem to get access for the vlan10 on the local ports on edgerouter x.. is this impossible?

I’m trying to setup ddns on my edge router x and when I save and check the configs it says other insted of eth0 and I have tryed setting it up over 50 times and it does the same thing so I’m wondering how do I fix it

Nice video. I think I did pretty much that but without denying inter VLAN routing. Because I'm not yet sure if I'm going to keep the VLANS as they are. Though during my setup I had the issue, that I couldn't connect from the default LAN to the VLANs and I think found somewhere the answer that there is an issue and that I need to configure the default LAN as a VLAN too and remove the IP from the switch0. As I set the VLAN1 and added the default IP there it worked for me but I'm not sure if this is now preventing me from configuring L2TP VPN correctly. did you set up L2TP with VLANS? I tried setting the VLAN DHCP pool to a completely different subnet and I couldn't connect and when configuring an IP pool in the default subnet but outside the default pool I got the same issue. Thanks for any advice!

On the switch side, why didn’t you need to configure the first port as a trunk port. Is it because of making the router switch VLAN aware?

Any tips on how to get the LAG working with Windows NIC Teaming? I can team the NICs, and that seems to work and my motherboard has 2 NICs -- but if i add both those ports to a LAG on the edgeswitch (no matter the settings, static vs STP with or without DHCP snooping) then the windows network stops working.

I would probably still go with unifi. The edge line does allow for other features like policy routing etc. Also the price is a little more competitive.

@8:50 I wish you could slow down here since you went through too fast to follow. Basically, all trunk ports are unchecked, default is all U except the port I want to Exclude, and VLAN is all E except the corresponding port is U and the port connecting upstream to the router is T. I hope I got it.

because most likely your internet is on eth0, hi uses eth4 for his connection

That group is the RFC1918 it covers all private ip addresses in IPv4
