Depending on the region, the ULTE Pro makes no sense if no external antenna is connected. In addition, UniFi missed the opportunity to equip the ULTE Pro with 5G from the start. I use Starlink as a backup both privately and for some customers. If you compare the follow-up costs for a backup connection, Starlink is the clear winner for me.

Starlink seems great but I could never throw money at Mr. Musk.

@@utiniposungu1221 depends on the use case i guess. for a home user that just wants cheap backup internet buy the device stick a cheap sim in it and have it provide basic internet when there is an outage. vs spend i dunno what its like in your country but starlink here costs the same if not more then the average fiber service per month . fiber here cost about 130 a dollars a month and starlink here cost 150 or so it makes no real sense to pay double your normal internet fee just to use it for a couple of minutes maybe hours a year. if its for a business that cant afford any downtime then yeah starlink all the way.

Finally was in stock again in Europe. Bought it :)

Thanks for this, I saw your other review 3 years ago around this , This device is already out for 5 years since it was in the EA store , I would wait for the next generation, it's sold out for long time so seems to be replaced soon

They still keep coming in and out of stock in the UK.
@andrewbullochАй бұрын
Have looked for one of these for ages Monty since it was announced but it's never, ever, in stock in the UK Store unfortunately (or with 3rd party suppliers of Unifi gear either). Shame, it's a good looking option for a fibre backup as we frequently see fibre outages here in Scotland.
@InsideWireАй бұрын
I have seen it come in and out of stock a couple of times, I got lucky I guess when I got mine.

Hi - will this support any SIM only data. I'm thinking of having a 'pay as you go' and only rely on it for the occasional ISP fail. I see the note similar to this 1 month ago. Was that a 'technical no' or a 'cost no' ? I (think) I will only need to use occasionally

Always considered this. But wonder how far we are away from 5g backup devices.
@dannymeyer5755Ай бұрын
I’m in the US. I just use T-Mobile 5G home and plug it into a failover port. Cheaper / good 5g in my area.

How did you manage to source one? I've been waiting for a year. It's never in stock in the UK

Can we hook up StarLink as a backup?
@InsideWireАй бұрын
Yes you can use a Starlink in WAN 2 but doesnt work the same way as the ULTE.
@Meister_JediАй бұрын
Yes, but there is something to think about. If Starlink is connected directly to WAN2 as a backup, it will work perfectly in the event of a possible WAN1 failure. But if you connect Starlink to WAN2 over a longer distance via UniFi switches, then a routing must be created in the console.

Has anyone found any good UK PAYG data plans for this with no monthly fee or data expiry?
@InsideWireАй бұрын
Not a PAYG but the you can get a sim that you can pay yearly rather than monthly.

You can buy it and put your own SIM in it, not sure if the US is limited to AT&T

This product for 2024 makes no sense. Why is it pro but can't even do 5g?... Just bizarre of a solution as a backup
@Meister_JediАй бұрын
I asked myself the same thing when UI launched the ULTE Pro. Furthermore, it would also make sense if you could also integrate an e-SIM instead of a physical SIM card. Technically, this would definitely be possible.
