I have played almost only Monty on attack the past few weeks. I have been shotgunned through the shield, melee killed through the shield, melee killed because someone stabbed to side of my hitbox but apparently connected and let's not forget the to-hit check on shields, which loves bugging out. And if you miss your melee, you will be meleed in return, preventing you from using yours again or just shot. The netcode is ... not good. And shields have always been hit the hardest since alpha by that.

Don’t forget the melee not working half the time. I can’t tell you how many times now that I’ve hit someone with the shield, gotten the sound cue but no effect on the target whatsoever

so key notes here is that remaking/buffing the shield to what it is now didn't really solved the main problem about the shields (the bugs and other weird mechanics i.e. shotgunned through the shield, melee through shield, melee killed because someone stabbed to side of the hitbox) but rather created a different form of problem that affected the non-shield player (which is kind of a bad thing). Hope Ubi finally realized this and make appropriate changes to the shield ops (they most likely wouldn't).

also that ubi forgot to align the ads animation on the third and first person povs, so when the shield is barely coming down and you cant even shoot yet, the defender already has full vision of your head

unless they fix melee hit regestration they shouldnt change the shields at all. Its almost impossible to hit a moving target (the clank sounds are there but no effect) and sometimes it doesnt even work point blank on stationary target

The shields are balanced, I think it's just sensationalism honestly. The hit registration and netcode is really bad atm though, should probably get fixed with how inconsistent shield hitboxes are now.

Have a tactical plan to deal with attacking shields. This is a tactical game (or it was) if you have a plan with your team they're not an issue. Pro players are crying because they can no longer 1v1 a monty they never should have been able to in the first place.

They’re still bad since impacts deal 60 damage each with a decent throw while nitros do 60+ through Monty’s shield. Not to mention the insane desync.

Shields are fine. Monty is supposed to be a 1v1 op, especially when the defuser is down. Hell, I would say even after rework, they are still nerfed cause they got rid of hipfring, replaced their 1 hit melee with 3 hit and they still have the animation bug where aiming down from your perspective is different from the enemy.

So, before the patch, shields downed you with one hit, after the patch they just knock you down like Oryx. And people consider THIS part a buff for shields? Also, the clip you chose doesn't mean shit, 1v1 with Monty has always been a thing and the patch has nothing to do with it, there always will be situations in which you're screwed over unless you have miracle hands. Do you call the game unbalanced whenever you're in a 1v5? Both teams make their choices and if they lead to a 1v1 with Monty, that sucks but it's your team's skill issue.

Even if it was an old shield, Monty can just spam to open and close his shield which gonna make defenders have a hard time to decide what to deal with Monty before defusing the defuser. In the clip it shows nothing about new shield, just Solis tried to melee Monty. Moreover, this is tactical game, that’s mean you need to plan how to deal with attackers or not to let some situations happen, but if let these things happen and all you do is gonna cry and excuse that “Shields are OP need to nerf or whatever” just change the game, you can go and play some brain dead game that’s not required tactics.

He didn't specifically say THIS part is overpowered. He used THIS as an example to say that THIS is something they could do to nerf shields as a whole. No where in THIS did I say it needed a nerf, nor did he say THIS was the main issue, it was a blanket suggestion, ALSO no one said the shield not one shotting anymore was a buff. ( Should I capitalize the entire previous sentence so you know it's my main point? ) He even later in the exact same clip said maybe using a shotgun could help push a shield to this side presumably similar to Kali shooting clash, which would result in letting two people team fire a shield from medium range, and btw I strongly disagree with this idea. Clash is very very very strong in a coordinated stack Monty and blitz are basically unplayable levels of inconsistent. You get meleed through the shield regularly, shot through the shield regularly, desync between what you see and the enemy sees. getting meleed makes your shield go to brazil, the whole point of monty is that he creates space and forces defenders out of bad positions. Considering if you get meleed as monty when not extended now you just die its kinda useless, not to mention the amount of ops on defence that hard counter shield ops, I think i have played literally 1 round in the last month where there wasnt at least 1 shield hard counter that you have to play around and i have basically been 2 tricking monty and clash.

a bit my shield rework idea : if a shield is sprinting and hit a defender, it will give the defender a knockback but stops the shield op from moving (just like crashing into something).

As a blitz main, getting headshot through the shield and getting shot at while im directly looking at the shooter and in his screen he can see my shield pointing to the side. No need for a nerf at all, because when its not buggy youre still at disadvantage against a good player or people that play as a team, thats how you are supposed to play siege, not 1v1 everyone

I think it’s more that the two shields would be broken if they were a defense choice and because of how bomb works when it’s defusing it basically flips the roles and force’s defense to quickly go on offense I think the best counter to the shields is don’t let them plant

That’s always been the case, the only thing the change did was encourage shield players to ADS and make the melee safer in 1 v 1 situations. They still get mollywhopped by Oryx and Lesion and give people a reason to play operators with gadgets which counter shields. (Imagine that, having to use a gadget to counter another operator’s gadget).

They should just remove the shield bash damage, force the shield player to expose his head to make the kill. Same with Clash's zappy, REMOVE THE DAMAGE. It's so simple. The threat from shields should be their ability to disrupt and zone out enemies, not deal direct damage.

They should just revert the changes. Shields are meant to be a risk reward system. That’s what kept them balanced, now they’re all reward no risk. That gives defenders little options against a team that wants to run shields.

The entire point of having the shield is to make it so you CAN’T just shoot and kill them. Removing that aspect defeats the entire point of a shield op. They already can’t win 1 v 2s unless you’re playing like an idiot, changing it so their melee does virtually no damage (5 to down a 3 armor, 6 to kill) would do nothing except make it take longer for a shield to win a 1 v 1. Again, their shield is their gadget AND their primary. They should not have the same odds of winning a 1 v 1 as a defender not using their gadget. I have yet to lose a 1 v 1 with a shield op because I main Lesion and Oryx, two operators whose gadgets counter shields. Just play smarter, this isn’t COD.

I wonder why shields count OP? Lack of shooting from the hip or a melee nerf? Or maybe by completely throwing back the shield from the explosion or the echo of the drone? It doesn’t. I have never lost to a shield op with oryx and I only got him post rework. Just use the dash when you know you’re going to hit them and then hipfire spray. You’ll likely headshot them too.

Reminder: as a shield op you’re giving up your primary weapon and your gadget to have the advantage of forward invulnerability. They should be able to actually feel that advantage, not just get mollywhopped because you want everything to be COD with 3 speeds spraying bullets at everything until it dies. They are no better now than they were before. They crush in 1 v 1s and can be very useful to teammates in 2v2 or 2v3 situations which is their intended purpose. The only difference is that shields are a lot safer in 1 v 1s now and the hipfire nerf has forced shield players to actually AIM. Play tactically or better yet, BRING AN OPERATOR WITH A GADGET THAT COUNTERS THEIRS. I have yet to be killed by a shield op since the rework because my two mains, Oryx and Lesion, actually counter shields.

It’s a lot faster to just knock someone down and then headshot them. As for Monty ignoring the debuff: he very much does not. His full extend just causes him to walk which means the debuff really doesn’t do anything to him.

Before the update the only thing you had to do was shot at the head lvl and if he dares to aim he is dead but with the new melee you stun them and you can guaratee a kill without getting hit once or surviving by a miracle( with 5 hp)

I’ve won 1 v 5s with Monty BEFORE the rework, it’s not exactly rocket science to funnel them into a chock point and just beat the s*** out of them. Remember, the shield is both their gadget and their primary weapon. It should be as powerful as said equipment. If a player can defeat Monty or blitz without massively outplaying them and without using their gadget, they’re underpowered operators. I have yet to lose a 1 v 1 with a shield op because I main Lesion and Oryx, both operators whose gadgets counter shields.

The shields are prefectly good. Only champ amd proleague players cry because they forget thet you can knife a monti player and your mate can shoot the leg 2 times. Just don't let 1v1 happen against monti. If they do the monti should win because clutching 2v1 and planting is a really hard work Rather talk about the c4 damage in front of the monti. It should not damage more than 50hp. But it almost kills you when it is front of you while the shield is bulled up.

Since the launch of the game in 2016 this is the first fucking time shields are in the meta, and its not even S tier like Yana or Ace The ammount of counters shield have is insane, you have: 1: impact granades (14 op have it) 2: oryx dash, 3: goyo fire, 4: tachanka fire, 5: c4 (9 op have it) 6: echo drones 7: frost math vaults (shields cant shoot feet while vaulting) 8: Ela mines also open the shield guard now 9: Eletified wires with eletro claw also opens the shield guard (they even cant melee it because if you get eletrified as a shield the operator get "stunned" (opening guard animation) You will need to put the shield on back then melee it if the Eletro Claw is hidden) 10> And the biggerst counter and nightmare of all shield attackers: clash leave the shields alone....

I think the buff should be delegated between the operators. Only Blitz can sprint, only fuze can knock down and only Monty with his gadget. That say you have the ultra aggressive, crowd control and defensive playstyles encouraged.

How the f*ck would that be a fair nerf? You literally force them to use their guns, exposing their heads, and make them even more useless in a 2+ v 1 situation. Reminder: as a shield op you’re giving up your primary weapon and your gadget to have the advantage of forward invulnerability. They should be able to actually feel that advantage, not just get mollywhopped because you want everything to be COD with 3 speeds spraying bullets at everything until it dies. They are no better now than they were before. They crush in 1 v 1s and can be very useful to teammates in 2v2 or 2v3 situations which is their intended purpose. The only difference is that shields are a lot safer in 1 v 1s now and the hipfire nerf has forced shield players to actually AIM. Play tactically or better yet, BRING AN OPERATOR WITH A GADGET THAT COUNTERS THEIRS. I have yet to be killed by a shield op since the rework because my two mains, Oryx and Lesion, actually counter shields.

remove the damage shields deal to defenders when meeleing them. that would basically force shield users to expose themselves if the want to secure a kill.

If you have two players that know how to properly play Monty and Blitz the chances of them winning the round is extremely high, it's like almost certain. Overall attacking is still pretty weak imo, just the shields that are absurdly strong.

Id disagree. A good blitz or Monty can do a lot, but blitz in particular excels in picking of individuals as quickly as possible before anyone else can kill him. If you just stay alert of where he is and stay on site (with a friend) you can pretty much deny him site entry.

@@McDazzle Majority of people play solo and if attackers have a good Monty AND Blitz it's almost certain they'll win the round specially post-plant, this combo makes it impossible to do a comeback in post-plant since now you can do everything behind the shield, at least before if you reloaded your pistol, threw a nade or sprinted, you had to put your guard down and you could get your head poped, which is why shields played more with their team and defensively while solo, today a good Monty can literally solo 2 players because of the stunlock, I'll tell you this, as someone who has been playing since launch, they were not perfect but shields this season are extremely strong and unbalanced, they're fun, but unbalanced they'll 100% nerf this.

@@RilezGamer I disagree, I'm a blitz main and while yes, post plant it's almost impossible to win the round against a good shield, but you still have to get there in the first place. If they are roaming or haven't locked down site or haven't prepared it's inevitable. And shields still can't solo well against good players because imagine this: you ADS, you get headshot immediately. You push as blitz, you have no idea if there is another person or you could just get shot in the shoulders. If your blitz you have to get within slapping distance of a person to use your flash effectively. The POV of shields is off and janky so often times you have no idea whether they can shoot you or not. There are a lot of ways to counter shields, you just have to lock down site, have impacts, or stick with a teammate

@@McDazzle That's the thing, in higher ranks people rarely or and almost never lock down sites, you have to see my lobbies on pc lol the TDM meta changed how people play R6 so much that even after the sight and ads changes the game literally has people rushing with Monty now because of how strong shields can be. And we all know Ubi makes changes based on data from high rank players and pro league players, they're constantly changing the meta, they will 100% nerf them, they're too strong.
