@@sungrandstudios If you are taking the export from OBS, it can glitch because the audio and video device may be different devices with buffer/latency. The 'live' will look normal, the recording won't match up. Very common, and it shows as a buffer/lag in the video stream, sometimes also due to the intel stream encoder or nvidia stream encoder, it will lag due to the encoder. It happens. OBS sync /delay is very common, especially after a windows update or USB disconnect. You may need to try a 'clapper' technique, i.e. record a video of two solid objects items hitting each other. Open up the recording, cue the visual and count how many frames it takes to see the waveform. It has to be a short, loud snap, or you'll be unable to work out which frame is the snap frame.

I've watched the series back then and thought nothing about it. I've watched again the series recently and I noticed those things. Why that story so? Grew up in a ghetto area in my city, in about year 2000 school started talking about differences between people I had never noticed before. I was a white kid growing up with kosovians, albanians, chileans, and iraqi's. By 2010, having never met anyone racist nor xenophobic before, I learned it was supposed to be a widespread problem. I couldn't find any reference so I asked about it, and thus I was a racist because I couldn't tell "such a simple thing". Asking my friends about it from the aforementioned countries, they didn't register any problems either in our living area. By 2020 everyone has moved out from the ghetto and still couldn't find any racism or problems in the city - but the message spreading within institutions was that there absolutely is a problem. I've kept in contact with my friends, and they say it's only online and in news outlets they've seen or felt any racism. If anything, they felt preferences within instituions, such as skipping queues in apartment hunting, getting quicker replies on inquries, and (obnoxious) sympathetic glances without reason or cause from people working in said institutions. In general it feels and looks backwards, like claiming black is white and expecting everyone to be blind and just trust them there's an issue. They claim there's an issue, and they're solving the issue we can't see, and when backlash appears they claim that's the issue lol. I can't pinpoint where the mindvirus is stemming from though, it's as if they're cognitively deficient.

As a brown guy, I couldn't care less about DEI. All I want is a complete videogame, with a history that doesn't suck ass. That's why I buy indie and ignore triple A until I hear from multiple sources that's actually good.

By the way, Valve came out unscathed despite being once a customer of SBI because they 1. Never let them touch essential stuff 2. I think it's something like rage-quitting. There was this "force the behaviors" thing and they noticed it didn't work, and now they are so upset about it that they go up to 11, like, "well, if that doesn't work, then we'll break it out of rage". It's a quite common human behavior. And they didn't even hide that. I remember a speech (was it on a TED talk?) where one from the DEI side talked about "burning the games industry to the ground".

I worked at Ubisoft for 1 year as a QA, and the main issue I saw was not DEI, but simply not being passionate about their games. It was just a job, with goals, objectives, and deadlines. If those were not met on time, well there were no bonuses, and recurring layoffs. It was fun the first 6 months, but then I realized they don't really care, and no longer did I.

Agreed. The way BG3 handled all that was way better than most AAA studios. The options were there, the hints are all there, but they don't shove it in your face and force you to play a certain way. It is the best way to do it. It's an option for people who want it, but not mandatory.

Spot on Jerrel. I think one additional point people don't often touch on in the case of DEI is the chilling effect it has on not just top talent, but talent at all levels. It's essentially restructuring the incentive structure of current employees from focusing on creating great products to checking boxes. They will take less risks as they fear for their job security; not just at their current company, but even their ability to find new jobs due to industry wide DEI policies. They also need to spend additional time on diversity activities instead of growing technical/industry skills.

I've been busy building my C++ skills, getting into into some cool gaming related projects. I feel like alot of programmers nowadays don't have much skill anymore and I am kinda part of it. We know how to do basic things but we're slow and oftentime spend more time with meetings than programming. So I am trying to fix this now by really grinding it out in my free time, becoming someone who would be hired on merit rather than for some superficial reasons. What really influenced me to finally improve my skill was Timothy Cains view on modern game making and his frustration how simple implementations could take weeks even when he could probably do it in like an hour or less. And I'm seeing these tendencies in myself and I don't like it. Too much relying on AI or chronic procrastination cuz our brains are fried by social media and other distractions. But there's no point crying victim, it's better to fix this. I want to be one of those great programmers like Timothy Cain. A programmer how they used to be, not one of the modern programmers who on paper have a tech stack larger than the empire state building but in reality no skill.
