Saying "there are no *plans* to shut down after season 4" is not ""promising"" to not shut down the game. They NEVER "promised the game wouldn't die". Think about it: why would they promise something like that for what is basically a brand-new IP live service game, under a publisher already having a bad time this year? Also, the person who didn't promise the game wouldn't shut down is not the same as the company who made the call to shut it down. Mark Rubin, the game director, SAID (not PROMISED) they have NO PLANS (i.e. not saying one way or the other what might happen to it) to shut down. Ubisoft the publisher are the ones who made the call to shut the game down. I hate Ubisoft too and had even planned to play XDefiant, but come on. Think for more than 5 seconds about what you read instead of misrepresenting what's happening.
@cheater0020 күн бұрын
Yong, not even one mention of Stop Killing Games in a story that's directly related to game shutdowns AND Ubisoft? Come oooooon dude. SKG needs support and constant reminders that people need to sign it - otherwise they'll never make it to 1 million signatures. You yourself keep screaming into the void about game shutdowns and corporate greed, but when there's a chance to do something - it just gets forgotten. Come on Yong, this needs to be happening, and with the biggest content creators like yourself staying quiet about SKG when there's a clear and obvious way to promote it, the whole issue will die and you will have the ability to scream about corporate overreach forever - because nothing will change. Give your support, Yong. This ain't good. Show you're against corporate greed by DOING stuff.

You can not put a insurance on a product that covers failing of set product and write it of your taxes... Like seriously plz go to school.... What you mean are credit company's for the larger studio's out there.. So instead of another investor round it's more profitable to actually take a loan from these bigger credit company's that do nothing else then working with these big companies. And instead of requiring the loan back if the game fails. A set amount of money was set in place on the assets of set game. So if a game sells good no issue here is the 50 million back and it was easier then having a investor round and we kept our creative freedom. If the game fails no worry 50 million gone but look the assets of this game where set on 50 million when we signed the loan.. Here you go.... And the credit company then sells those assets or technology to another studio.... Without impacting set company as this purchase or hand over does not need to be public... So in the public eye to investors they did not lose money... It's just pulled of the total amount the company is worth as those assets are gone... But in most company's you can't even notice that.

Im so tired of seeing people complain about this and not understanding anything about the current state of the industry. You literally don't own games anymore. Ubisoft was simply the only company to be honest about it. Steam has been licensing games out to players for years without anyone knowing since it was in the fine print. Most digital storefronts only sell you a license to play the game. Even when you buy a physical copy you don't get the full game anymore, and that first update you do is you downloading the license to play the game along with the rest of the game. Just quit gaming at this point if you have an issue with it lol.

@@HaplessOneOr stop buying from the companies that do this
@HaplessOne20 күн бұрын
@@Psych_Ward they pretty much all do this, though. That's what I'm trying to say. Even indie devs can only mostly go digital and sell you a license through steam or other digital platforms because most indie devs don't have the funding to go physical. And like I said, even physical discs don't have the full game anymore, and you have to install the license and the rest of the game. Like 70, 80, maybe even 90% of the gaming industry licenses games to you now. There is no owning. It'll only get worse from here. You either get used to it or quit gaming. Either that or research an insane amount and severely limit what you can play. If you own anything digital, it's most likely licensed to you. If you own anything physical, you don't even have the full game, and again, it's most likely licensed to you.

Them shutting down is more of a ubisoft problem, didn't really have much to do with the actual game itself. Ubisoft's stocks have been steadily dropping because they were sued after a major data breach, and also after the major backlash of the new assassins creed game which they had to postpone as a result. xDefiant was actually getting an increase in player numbers pre season 3. They also had alot of their major issues ironed out for the new update. Its been leaked that Ubisoft is preparing to be bought out by another company. They basically are depending on AC to do well, or it's lights out for Ubisoft. They quite literally couldn't afford to keep xDefiant running because they simply are broke. How do these studios not understand yet, that they've released so many flavors/titles for multiplayer experiences over the course of the past 20 years that the market already has plenty established offerings. Triple A Game studios just need to curate the games they already have on the market with more content and regulate majority of new releases to single player franchises/innovated titles. They keep fighting for what is realistically a limited-size player base that's already invested in time, effort and money in established IPs. You want a game to last, it has to be up for way longer then just one year. Otherwise most players are just not even going to waste there time.

They're all a bunch of old turtles who don't care about making good games, but selling copies and digital tat to keep the green rolling. Let them go bankrupt and let these investors get the hell out of this business and then we might get solid, fun products again.

It’s because Ubisoft is done making games. They shifted their business to gambling instead. That’s why they keep making this live service crap. It’s gambling. They throw away all this money hoping they win the jackpot with their own CoD or Fortnite. They won’t.

Its both ubisoft and the customers' fault. Players keep paying for this stuff, knowing that online only games can be taken away

So with how shitty Ubisoft handled this shutdown, we're not buying AC: Shadows, right? Don't support these anti-consumer practices. Ubisoft needs a nice financial kick in the nuts for anything to really change.

Everyone should ask for their money back, gaming companies feel safe making promises, taking your money and then riding into the sunset without delivering. Ubisoft should be comfortable not owning and keeping our money

Still, till date There are still bootlickers, diehard fans saying that "Oh, the Assassin's Creed Shadow is gonna redeem themselves, it's gonna be gold" It's the attitude like this, which indefinitely feeds Ubisoft's ego. Ruining & poisoning the whole gaming industry. So many good IPs... wasted. Shadow is gonna be the last nail on the coffin.
@angelofdeath518419 күн бұрын
Like how they killed The Division Hartland in order to make room for assassin creed and xdefient (which was basically a reskined Division game)

I would put money on Ubisoft knowing they were going to shut the game down when they released the statement about not doing so. They knew they had a dud on their hands and wanted to skim a bit more money off the top before taking it behind the shed. I can’t wait for the day we finally get to watch this company collapse.

their own launcher doesn't make them money, they have to use steam to even attempt profit with their slop, so approached steam with xdefiant. Steam just announced new rules about DLC and ''roadmaps''. I think steam questioned them about it and they gave steam a big fat ''um idk, yeh...we haven't figured it out yet''. whoosh steam cuts them off.
@PokeGuy620 күн бұрын
The last time I played XDefiant was about late spring/early summer and I did spend money on the BP and VC before I basically quit the game. So the fact I can't get a refund since then too, is BS.

Live service requires time and dedication from players. Right now market is saturated of live service games. Players dont have time to dedicate to all of them. Plus they are all more or less of the same so players are just getting bored of playing the same games over and over again. With recent game failure of poorly made live service game, players will start to lose trust of that genre of game and will now be more careful. Hopefully this will bring back more quality single player game instead if they game Company sees they are not profitable anymore

Way to screw the people that actually gave the product a chance. Customers should have legal guarantee on games like this, especially if the company is marching around saying everything is fine. Ubisoft lied.

I think it might be important to note that Mark Rubin might not have been told what was happening from higher up, as he may have been genuine in saying that the game was doing fine and it might very well have been at the time he posted and said what he said. There’s a massive disconnect between the developer and publisher. Ubisoft being the god awful company they are might have just made the decision and forced the team to say it was shutting down because of low player counts. Which might be correct, but it also seems the dev team barely had any notice of that decision until it happened. Fuck Ubisoft. I didnt play much of XDefiant but I could appreciate the effort and love that went into the game. This is just a messed up situation.
