I have a malamute SDR without a case. I saw this video and built a wood case. Thanks for the inspiration

Thank you AB5N. I am an electronics hobbyist who recently became a ham. Coincidently, I have been taking a online Udemy course by Shawn Hymel about Arduino... so stumbling on to this video was wonderful. I had not even bought my first radio...until today! Now I can have the fun of combining all my hobbies into one fun project. I will get to start on the ground floor with QRP and can begin with CW (something I have been studying for almost a year). My call is ky9i...maybe you will hear me on HF in the not too distant future. Your videos are high quality. Thank you for your hard work and for sharing so much knowledge, Mr. Nagy.

Jason- Welcome to the Ham fraternity! It's really fertile ground for networking and cross-pollination of ideas. There are SO many new facets of Ham radio right now to investigate. The uBITX will serve perfectly on the new FT-8 mode. You are global with 10 watts and a Dipole antenna. Check into the way that FT-8 is coded...very cool. Best of luck and glad you got something from my videos. 73's Bob

For folks that are interested right now, I ordered one of the version units over the weekend and received it today via DHL to the US.

Great review Bob! I’m a not-quite-licensed newbie ham, but a lifelong EE analog/digital design engineer. I greatly appreciate your knowledgeable review of the cRF circuit design! I just subscribed to your KZbin channel, and look forward to hearing more of your videos! 73!

'Indian Standard Time' means the same thing everywhere wow! We thought it was infamous only here in India. Nice review btw. Hope I can get my hands on a uBITx someday. More than that, how does the electronics inside work, always fascinates me, a newbie electronics enthusiast
@robertnagy21634 жыл бұрын
Yash- I cannot give you a detailed description, but it is all on their website. It uses an Arduino...made into a Raduino.. a signal generating device. Indian standard time is only known to Americans who know Indian people! We have a lot of Indian Doctors, lawyers and others who live in HUGE houses and drive fancy cars. They are living the American dream. Happy people indeed.

@@robertnagy2163 Yeah thanks I'll be going over their website for the technical. For those who don't know, Indian Standard Time (IST), is like that feeling when you're waiting for your order for like 45 minutes & you can't leave because it was prepaid, you're hungry, the order is 'just' coming and they are simply the best at whatever they make. It's a feeling that can only be experienced never described :P

I'm thinking that a surplus ammo box would make a nice box for the rig.
@patriot94555 жыл бұрын
I have an ammo box, sounds like this could be sweet "go box". I would look at a small AGM battery. There is a 4 inch tall 250CCA AGM battery that might be just the ticket, put charging post on the outside and a digital battery meter on it. Harbor freight here I come!!

Great video. Thanks for the insights on the software. Many on YT suggest a fuse to the device. Where would you connect on on the µBITx? thx

Just in line with the positive DC voltage lead - power cord. 3 amps would be good

Hello Bob, Great meeting you at Dayton. Did you do anything about the uBITX's power dropoff in the lower bands like 80m?
@Yavor546 жыл бұрын
Kevin- nope. He used really low-cost transistors in the final on the UBitx.. Upside is you can replace them for $3. Downside is power drop-off. It's a low-cost radio....and great meeting you too...looking forward to next year.
@toddbu-WK7L3 жыл бұрын
With the cost of wood these days, that case would probably cost you more to build than the radio now :-(

You have to add a simple switch (push-button) across the main tuning dial switch wires. This way you can set the band- take your fingers off the tuning dial- and push the button.

Yes, it IS amazing. One has to remember that the basic performance of this radio is....basic. No manner of display, software or additional arduinos is going to change it. It's a VERY rudimentary radio with marginal performance. Still, it is fun to put a top-shelf "face" on it.

They have the option of DHL - Their cheaper shipping is through India Post. The same time frame is when you ship something from states to other parts of the world via USPS - commenting the shipping time and making fun of it as "Indian Standard Time" - is somewhat disappointing from a Senior like you.
@Yavor546 жыл бұрын
My Indian friends and I all laugh about "Indian Standard Time". Nothing derogatory.
