They have come a long way designing sub sim games from when I played Sid Meier's "Silent Service" on my Commodore computer. "Aces of the deep" was a good sub sim. The "Silent Hunter" series had too many bugs, in my humble opinion. It kept crashing on me. By the time I quit playing it, the game just refused to load. "Silent Service" remined me of that Clark Gable film "Run silent, run deep" (1958), where the skipper had to make a down-the-throat shot. You had to do the same to sink a destroyer in that game. You start out from a port in Australia. Hours on end, listening to that steady engine noise. Good times. In the end, we're like those little old ladies in the bingo parlor, enjoying our diversion from the every day troubles. Good hunting, ladies and gentlemen.

I've played Silent Hunter 3 (original and the wolves mod) for more years than I care to mention after trying SH2, 4 and 5. In this game it seems OK to hang around @ the periscope depth after firing torpedoes, where as in SH3 one would have to dive deep and change course as quietly as possible after torps release to reduce detection radius and getting a proper rogering by the escorts.

It’s weird with uboat, either most the escorts head off in the other direction and the ones that don’t have no clue where you are, or you have 6 active sonars pinging you and you either die or waste all your decoys to escape

Напоминает silent hunter III... Торпедная атака неплохо сделана. Графика отличная - море похожена настоящее, а внутренняя обстановка подлодки вообще шикарная.

No it's not. You're not supposed to see ships on the map, not even yours. You must find out their position and course. Even yours, same. You must make calculations to find the correct AOB, not setting it up by eye sight.

Immersion yes, simulation no. stop using random words and ruining their meaning. The game has a long way to go to reach "Sim" levels.

I played Sid Meiers "Silent Service" on my C64 a lot. The crew in this game looks like they are made of high gloss plastic 😁 What always puzzles me in this games, the voices are made as if they were always screaming at each other 😄

It's not that hard, you can make it pretty easy with settings,basically you can make crew calculate torpedo solutions and you just have to fire.

Using the map the way you are, is not full first person. It's ok, but using the map to steer to the contact is not real. Try doing it just as it was done for real. I know that it will be harder, but it will be more realistic. Life on a U-boat was never exciting until they just happened to come upon a convoy. Radio communication helped, but was never a garrentee.

I've thought about it but i can only do without map, when i enter to the convoy area or chimney smoke is spotted,or in more hardcore case i hope hydrophone can detect them in manual mode.It takes more time for sure, i will try it in Part 6 i actually like the idea.

@@hannes0000 thanks for the reply. I know that doing it just like for real is very hard, and for some of us viewers might be somewhat boring if we sit and watch. However, the reward is greater and the understanding of what these crew members went through greatly inspires us of just how hard and just why these men were treated as Heros and respected so for their dedication. I'm an American, not a German, but I can respect the determination and fortitude in which it took to be a submariner. For both sides. I have played U-boat and others. But I have never been rewarded greater for my ability than when I played as they actually did. I did not always win or find anything to attack... but... the experience taught me a lot about those who did the real thing. But like I said, watching 8t will be boring so maybe just showing the the parts that have some excitement would be good. And maybe explaining the time it took in a "dairy" sort of way would give us viewers an understanding of how you got to this point would be good. Sorta like a documentary. I think I'm going to do some of this myself, because I know of now one online that has done this. I look forward to watching you in this. Thanks again for replying to my post and not just taking it as a negative.

@@hannes0000 Well, as I said, I do not know of anyone who has done it like what I'm suggesting. But maybe you could be the first. I don't think you would have to record all the times of your searching for targets, but maybe just record the highlights when you find contacts. But as I said, you could give a journal type of comintary to your viewers that leads up to your encounters. (Such as the days and length of time, storms, bad or good news you have heard about the war effort, etc....). Good embellishment goes along way when you give a good storyline with your vids ;) But I would keep it real first person while pursuing contacts.... now this is just my desire to see and at best you will most likely be hit and miss. But that is how it really happened except when radio transmissions from your alleys direct you to contact locations. I think the personal rewards of true success when you actually accomplish a victory is great! I believe this version of U-Boat is good enough to accomplish missions in this way if you know how to use your detection equipment properly and in a good routine. Will take practice though along with a good story telling ability with a good knowledge of how the war developed along the way. Hope that helps, but it's your time and vids... I'm only suggesting ;)

I enjoy the game too, watching it, I haven't played it yet since I'm playing Silent Hunter 5 using the wolves of steel mod, which is pretty realistic, no intercepting a convoy this way there, especially not with the mod Real Navigation installed as well. But it's a game I'll probably try out for sure.

You should use mods man. you're not supposed to see ships on the map at first. So the map is only a tool to make calculations not one to click on to go where you want. I play FPS only but with mods like Real navigation (which disable map contacts and even your position, you've got a sextant to figure out where you are and an odometer to follow the distance you cross) And TDC. It completely changes the gameplay, and you need a bit of learning to be able to sink ships but, since you're going this way with FPS as a first step, I can't advise you enough to go further. You'll need to figure out where you are, the target position (bearing, distance), and the AOB by doing geometry on the map. It's way more immersive and sim, and in addition, the satisfaction hitting a ship is 200% better.

Ive used TDC before I did not record that time. I'm working on it TDC was on my things to add list anyway.From part 6 I don't use map at all only long distance travel.I'm figuring out to add some kind of captains journal between clips.Last week when I added real navigation to my save it got corrupt ,after loading only blue screen with sound,I think it needs to be updated to 130 version

@@hannes0000 It is updated to 130 actually. MMMH🤔🤔, too bad it did corrupt your save, it's apparently save compatible. IDK much about technicity in this area. Since i started my campaign with it i don't have this type of issues. But honestly my friend, you're missing the point without it. Your "role play" is nice to watch, it could be even better. ;)) Good hunting

No you can't that game is doomed to fail the sound is terrible the nose on the sub when standing in conning tower is not long enough the inside must me more dark and smaller the explosion must rock the boat in another way and the list goes on and on
