Unfortunately the Anglophobic Admiral King refused to listen to any advice rendered to the USN by the Royal Navy. By mid-42 the British had been fighting the war at sea for over three years, gaining invaluable experience in the best ways to eliminate the U-boat menace, the most obvious of which was the introduction of the convoy system, and the black-out of coastal towns. King refused point blank to ask for or act upon anything the British might suggest, and the result was the "Second Happy Time" for the U-boats and death for thousands of American merchant seamen.

The time before The Pearl Harbor attack, and since Roosevelt happened to be a Navy man, where Roosevelt swiped a bunch of Pearl Harbors Navy Vessels, leaving Admiral Kimmel very short of Pearl Harbor Naval Defense Ships! It was truly wrong, when then US President Roosevelt to Court Martial Admiral Kimmel right after The Pearl Harbor Attack! And Japan was part of the problem, for their evasive and delaying tactics!!

Oops... USS Greer was involved in the September 4 incident, the American destroyer Kearney in the October 17 incident attacked the u-boat with a deep bomb, then he responded with torpedo. and in a navy day speech, Roosevelt lied that our ship was attacked. great.
