As a newcomer to Linux after Mac, PC, and Windows, I find the the vast majority of learning resources to be patronisingly infantile or stunningly technical. This series is thoughtful, easy to understand, and a vast relief in the documentation wasteland. The structural concept of the Linux world is difficult for old hands to suss out alone. Deeply grateful.

A great resource for those of us who were middle aged or beyond before the advent of the pc. I did learn a lot and found it very useful indeed.

I can't believe I've been missing out on Linux for so long. I installed Mint and Ubuntu o an old laptop that could barely function with windows, and it runs like a dream with Linux. So much less stress. I'm never going back.

I might have saved myself SOOO much time and frustration had it occurred to me to watch this or some other video BEFORE I downloaded Ubuntu. I thought that you did an excellent job of explaining the differences between how Windows and Linux characterize and manage files. Two things that got my attention was how you explained the root directory and how you explain the menus and preferences. There's actually a little bit that is similar to Windows with among the notable exceptions being the structure. Linux treats everything like a file or a folder. Whereas windows starts with your C: drive and descends from there. Also in Linux by default executable text files are only displayed. Whereas in Windows by default you are prompted when downloading and executable text file. Thank you very much.

Thank you for guidance in my way to freedom. Your tutorials made my move from Windows to Linux really easy! Most people overcomplicate things which put people off.

Very concise. I've been listening to your tutorials at work and can't want to convert a machine I just got that's congested with win 10

Excellent video. Your tutorials are a great resource for those thinking about making the change away from Windows. Do you have a short video explaining on how to navigate files when you have multiple hard drives? I believe that I saw a video showing that both drives will show up at once but I’m confused if you want to use a specific drive for certain file or file types. Thanks again

Thanks, and great feedback. I'll probably make a separate video about how to prepare a 2nd hard drive for use in Linux/Ubuntu. Appreciate it! :)

I wan to thank you for your time, I learned how to install Ubuntu thanks to your videos, they are clear and you show what is needed for a beginner. I now like Ubuntu it all started as an old small PC I had WIn10 on it but it could not run WIn 10 due to low specs but ubuntu is really good. Thank you again please keep up the good work, I have subscribed. Thank you again.

I don't know if it was just me, but on the latest Ubuntu OS I won't be able to drag-and-move the file/folder I want from one storage drive or folder to another using the middle mouse button. In previous Ubuntu 12.04, I was able to do that. But on Ubuntu 20.04 its no longer possible, and I have no choice but to right click the file and select "Move to...". Is there any way to enable such feature?

My PC is running under RYZEN 5 2600 with 2×4 GB 2400mhz dual channel Ram and Nvidia gtx 560ti graphic card... Thanks in advance

Do a video about Timeshift on Linux Mint I don't have external hard disk Is Timeshift will be useful for me
@fymlinux4 жыл бұрын
Will do! Added to the production list. :) It would still likely be helpful in the vent of system emergencies, because it can restore your OS system files to an earlier state in the event of something going wrong.

@coolent_cracker32873 жыл бұрын
You can’t, libera office is a good alternative to office (better in my opinion) just make sure you use a font that office supports and save any file you plan to share with an office user as an office file and your good to go

In the current version, you can't drag files from the desktop to folders like "pictures." You can't drag files out of folders like "pictures" or "downloads" to the desktop. You can't drag a files to the usb thumb drive from your downloads folder. It's ridiculous and why I'm still using Unity.
