A thousand new dj's flood the market every month and there are no longer any artistical grey areas for calling yourself a dj. You either have it or you don't. Most don't. Andrew Weatherall is a prime example of what a dj is capable of, having accumulated instincts of the dj to hear the common thread between two tracks. That is the art of mixing. Rather than having a thumb drive with 10,000 songs or trolling for the hottest tracks selling at the record stores or on beatport the dj has the golden ear selecting "the ones" and when they first hear a song they are possibly already mixing it in their heads. Too many people start out by buying the best digital gear and prepared digital tracks that do most of the thinking for them so they never have to accumulate any skill or instincts. Dj Bone outright attacks these imposters with the words - are you funky with the machines, or do the machines make you funky? One of the true masters here!
