One inevitable sign of aging is cataract, a clouding or yellowing of the eye’s natural lens. Most people begin to develop cataracts in middle age. By age 75, vision is affected because of cataract in more than half of the population. Signs of cataract include blurry vision and halos around lights: symptoms that sound familiar to those living with keratoconus.
Dr. Jay Lustbader MD joins NKCF for a discussion of cataract and keratoconus, including surgical options that may improve vision. He will be joined in this webinar presentation by three of his current residents, Dr. Mazin Elsarrag MD, Dr. Anthony Fiacco MD, and Dr. Abhishek Naidu MD.
Dr. Lustbader is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed his ophthalmology training at Wilmer Eye Institute (Johns Hopkins) and a fellowship in cornea and refractive disease at Georgetown University. Since 1992, he has served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at Georgetown Univ. School of Medicine and president of the Washington National Eye Center. Dr. Lustbader is a longtime consultant to National Keratoconus Foundation. Dr. Lustbader is an author, lecturer, educator and has a long-standing interest in teaching the next generation of ophthalmologists.
This webinar is moderated by Dr. Karen Lee, OD.

My name is Yasir Khan. I am from Pakistan and I am a medical student. I am a patient with last-stage keratoconus. I am very disturbed and in depression because my eyesight is blurry, and I am finding it very difficult to study and live my life. I need treatment if possible. I need a contact number to share my documents, as treatment is not possible in Pakistan. 😢
