Where do UCLA Bruins meet Bernards? Touring the Mark Apartments project!
At Bernards, we recognize the importance of educating future engineering and construction management leaders. Recently, UCLA Engineering students enjoyed a tour of The Mark Apartments project where Sr. Superintendent, Sheraz Khawar, demonstrated the progress and complex engineering taking place during the construction of this multi-family development. During the 3 basement-level deep excavations, a reinforced shoring system comprising 100-ft tall soldier piles and horizontal strong pipes to provide additional support was implemented to protect the neighboring structures.
Upon completion, this 7-story apartment building located less than a mile from UCLA will provide students and young professionals with new off-campus housing opportunities consisting of 166 bedrooms, an academic lounge, gourmet kitchens, and in-unit washer-dryer sets.
