This is such a wonderfully meaningful conversation, and we definitely need to have more conversations like this not just in football but every aspect of life. Great to see that personal and truly human side of professional footballers. They are revered and bring so much joy to others due to their talent and status. However, their effects have made people forget that they are humans just like us. Especially in the age of social media where folks think they can treat people in whatever way, these sorts of conversations are pivotal.

SCIENCE saved Charlie's life. I STRUGGLE with talking about my mental health, ive kept away from friends, chasing girls and hobbies since 2009, but i feel ive no right to ask for help when theres a BILLION people in our planet starving and homeless. I just get by, but at least ive a roof over my head, food and can just about pay the bills. When Charlie talked about the car crash, he said a person from a major worldwide religion came in and said ''did you see the car? you shouldn't be here...theres a bigger plan.....'' why would anyones religious deity ,jesus, allah, gita, thor, zeus, etc choose to save the life of someone in a car crash and at the same time watch even ONE child or person in this planet starve to death SLOWLY and in AGONY over days, weeks and months through being born into famine and not not step in? Science saved Charlie's life. But id feel like i was wasting someones time talking to them, when theres people who NEED it more. maybe im just fronting up, i dont know.

I think you have a great argument, but when Landon Donovan took that US jersey on then he was ‘him’. He has second most games and top all time goal scorer (tied with Dempsey) and most assists for the USMNT. He was pretty much clutch when he was needed. However I agree when it to comes club football.
