Barcelona were the best team that season and were deserved winners. That was far from peak Arsenal. The bigger regret should be the Invincibles failing in the CL. It was Porto and Monaco in the final that season.

I can only remember 2 semis in their whole ucl history and can’t recall when they won 2 trophies in a season or won a pl back to back

I can’t express enough how good Henry was. He’s the pundit I respect the most, not because of his opinions but because he was a brilliant footballer. I think he was perhaps (for my generation - born in the 90s) the first footballer in the prem that made non arsenal fans fall in love with football. The fact he didn’t win the ballon dor is a crime and a shame on the entity of awards in football. He was without a doubt the best player in the world for a good portion of history. In terms of his consistency, performances and style of play. He gave premier league awards to players who had no right winning them. He elevated arsenal as a team and as a club today. Brilliant brilliant player, and sadly I think never got the respect he deserved, tho at the same time, you ask 9/10 people who the best every premier league player was, it will be Henry.

Thierry Henry and Ronaldinho are by far my favorite living football legends, they are the reason I fell in love with football in the first place, they are part of my childhood... Henry should have won at least one or two ballon d'or in the 2003 and 2004 seasons, he was so unique and underrated back then, he was almost unstoppable and genuinely a very good all-rounder authentic player. ☯️✌️

And they didn't deserve the FAcup the year before. They shouldn't have won 97/98 PL. You win some you lose some. Maybe if Arsenal had more ChampionsLeague semi-finals or better before the game it would've helped them but they underachieved in the competition for several years and also don't forget that in the final the goal they scored shouldn't have counted, Eboue dive. Arsenal fans always conveniently forget what goes in their favour.

Im guessing Henry is referencing the start of the match where it was more balanced. But regardless if Lehmann wasn't sent off then it would have been 1-0 to barca and Arsenal's only goal came from a dive anyway so it is probable that arsenal would not win it anyway. Not to mention that Barca had quite a few more chances than arsenal even in the first half. And arsenals best chances came immediately after kick off when the teams were just settling into the match.

Your feelings are valid but you have to look at the situation Arsenal was in. A number of big names were becoming disillusioned with the direction the club was taking in terms of an on field & sporting process. The management was focused on reducing debt such as payment for their new Emirates Stadium were hence not spending much in recruitment. That included selling stars, buying cheap players, offering stringent wages & trying to incorporate young players from the academy. Finance wise it was the right direction to keep afloat especially in a league where Manchester United was the biggest financial powerhouse together with a Chelsea bankrolled by Abramovic but it at many occasions on the pitch it affected Arsenal's ability to compete in England & Europe. Henry and other big names like Viera, Ashley Cole, Van Persie, Ljungberg, Fabregas, Adebayor & Sagna have had similar stories regarding their exists such as strained contract talks, questions regarding questionable transfer choices.
