Thanks for the review. Looking forward to Jana, Strong, Chelly, and Ziebell joining all the talent UConn already has. Hopefully everyone will get time, because there’s a LOT of talent. But a healthy UConn women’s team should be amazing. Love Aubry and hope she’s able to come back and be the game changer she’d become. Of course, looking forward to Azzi being able to play a whole season so everyone can see how good she really is. Last year’s Freshmen were a wonderful group, and of course, Paige will be there. Hope Ice continues to grow and Aayana and Caroline get healthy. So much to look forward to, I can hardly wait! So thanks for highlighting my favorite team.

Jana El Alfy began working out with team in early February and was carefully monitored on a daily basis. By the end of the season she was nearly 100 percent recovered. She will be going into next season knowing the system from being on bench throughout the season and then first watching the workouts and then participating in them. Suspect when they measure height in June, she will be 6'6'. Her wingspan in, if I remember correctly, 68 inches. El Alfy should also be stronger and heavier than was was last summer. Finally, I don't ever remember Gino being as excited about a new player as he is about El Alfy.

That is because she has a skillset usually not found in a player that tall. Her development at the position though is not on Geno as much as playing for her dad.

If Griffin doesn't get injured then UConn wins the national championship. Griffin, Strong and Chen make the Huskies significantly better than last year when they "only" went to the final four and lost by a few points. Looking forward to a dominant season.

Strong will be awesome, but in terms of a player nobody is considering to bust through, I'm calling it - Morgan Cheli will be a breakout. She's 6'2", strong, strong-willed, smart and just fits the UConn mold extremely well. She can score, rebound and she sees the court very well. Her versatility will win her 25 minutes per game

With Alphy as a legit all-around big and Page, they only need one player to break-out big to be better than last year final four team.

I think UConn’s biggest need in the portal were bigs. They are stacked at guard. Paige, Azzi, KK, Ashlyn Shade, and the two freshmen, Morgan Cheli and Allie Ziebel. Chen is a very good player but they needed veteran, seasoned post players. I gotta disagree too about Ice Brady. She had a few games whew she looked decent. But she’s not nearly tough enough to star in the low post. She’s a very soft player. You are dead right about Sarah Strong.

@@914Rocky Unless she adds to her game (rebounding, etc.) she might be odd man out in terms of minutes, especially if other guards/players develop their game. If that happens this year, she might be a candidate to transfer out net year.

She's not as developed physically as Cheli/Ziebell/KK/Shade. Little soft with the ball & inconsistent. Like her offensive upside, but she's not getting minutes on this team and will likely transfer out.

Chen and KKs role can change alot. Ayana? Could us Cheli at 6'2" Ziebel may be a year away of them needing her skill set I see Jana having a lot more confidence consistenly then Ice through ups and downs. Ice when she starts a game well her confidence is big Azzi will only be on 12month recovery Aubrey around 10 at start of season.

Its not the health staff nor the players (except women's physique which is nature) that is the main core for these injuries. It is the year round play without giving the body to rest and/or develop better. Playing college than immediately going into summer basketball does not give a player time to rest or work on problem areas.
@TheDisruptiveOne7 ай бұрын
UConn on paper should be better next season. But. Aaliyah and Nika are gone. And they were actually the most reliable and durable players on the team. So, replacing them will be hard. Who can break out? Who does UConn need to break out? El Alfy and Ice Brady. UConn needs one or both of them to break out because they need something decent in the frontcourt. Strong. Strong can't just break out. She needs to be a star. That's part of the puzzle for this team to compete. Azzi Fudd. Azzi is fighting for her basketball legacy next year. She has to have a breakout year and a healthy year. Or she is a flop at the college level. Q or Cheli contributing to the team would be a big help. Not a necessary help. But I think one of them in the rotation would be great for UConn. Ziebell seems like a nice kid. And I hope I am wrong. But I don't really rate her. The lack of athleticism jumps out when I see her. I can't imagine her playing defense at the college level. I don't see her playing much at all in 24/25.

Coach Geno needs to say some prayers to get rid of the injury jinx that has plagued the team for the last couple of years. Either that or take a good hard look at the training sessions. I mean, players getting seriousl injured during practice? These are college athletes not Navy Seals.

They are always loaded. They have had some injuries lately but their lack of development of a post is what is the difference between Final 4 and winning a championship. Fact is Geno never has developed a post and most likely he never will. If Cardoso had played for UConn she never would have seen the floor.
