Refs swallowing their whistles in first half when Uconn on defense had a MAJOR,MAJOR, Major influence on this game. Clingan should of been sitting out with 2 fouls at about the 15 minute mark of 1st half

@justinpolaris5324 All I'm saying is that there were uncalled fouls on Clingan in 1st 5 minutes of game that were not called. If they were It would have been a completely different game, supported by the scoring of Illinois when he was not in game. That is factual. The rest is my opinion. That is all. If you think clingan sitting out the last 15 minutes of 1st half would not of changed anything than you have a right to that opinion as well.

@@hanibalsmith2116 I mean if you wanna be fair there were alot of uncalled fouls by Illinois and ref called a foul on newton on the floor, but if you look at the replay it aint no foul. So it goes both ways. Just one team is better.

Before tonight the best run I have ever seen deep in the NCAA tournament was when Kentucky with Jamal Mashburn started the game on a 34-6 run against Wake Forest in the 1993 Sweet 16. The announcer at that game, Dick Stockton, commented "this is a withering display of basketball talent on both ends of the floor." That's exactly how I would describe this exhibition by UConn. UConn shot poorly from 3 (18%). Their All-American PG Newton had 0 FGs. Castle had 1 FG and only 2pts. And they still routed Illinois. That's the scariest thing. Just imagine if UConn has a game where they shoot average, or even well from 3. What if they actually play their A game?

No way. That window in the women's game closed a few years ago - there is much more parity now. Way too much talent in the men's game for UConn to dominate for an extended stretch. I’m sick of this blueblood nonsense. What defines a blueblood anyhow? I’m a UConn fan since I was a kid. Went to my first game at age 5. Now I’m 75. UConn was for most of my life what we now refer to as a mid major. Those other 4 have been powerhouses since the beginnings of college basketball. I’ll be the first to admit that. But in this modern era UConn is at the top. In the 30’s through the 60’s you had segregation. The tournament was small. In fact, the NIT was more important. Guys stayed 4 years. Academic requirements were non existent at Kentucky. It was just a different world. Who gives a shit anyways about “blueblood status”? Not me.

In order to be a Blue Blood like Duke, UK, KU, and NC, you have to have scads of 5 star recruits and relatively little hardware to show for it. Given that UConn doesn't get the 5 star recruits, yet still wins the gear, you have to figure the Blue Blood thing isn't going to happen for UConn anytime soon, lol. if i was in that court playing for illinois and i notice they kept us at 23 for the past 15 minutes? whoo, i would "lightly" bump uconn players everytime they get a driving or fastbreak opportunity. 😢 dont care if i get a foul, tech, ejection, maybe even suspension, its just a matter of putting some fear into uconn and derail their momentum then maybe give some of my teammates a spark. (Remember: basketball is a mental game also. I don't mean to really injure opposing teams, but the reality of basketball is little techniques, like bumping, lightly pushing, trashtalking, can help your team get traction and momentum.) 😅😅😅

Obviously not showing Kunis offense, but they missed multiple wide open 3s and missed 2 point blank layups. So this really wasn't a dominant 30-0 run. Offensively maybe, but not on the whole.

I am going to say that illinois fell apart in the second half. But there is an element here that no one is speaking of. The first half, even acknowledged by the tv announcers " if one were to say the refs are letting them play, that would be an UNDERSTATEMENT!" There were probably four or five blatant fouls by Clingan and Karaban that were not called when Illinois was driving to the rim. If these fouls were called, first of all Clingan would of been sitting out the entire first half at about the 15 min mark. I believe illinois allowed this frustration to get to them and came out in the second half feeling disheartened and desperate, this also allowed Uconn to get their momentum going and as anyone knows that is probably the greatest element of winning in almost any sporting competition especially at the higher levels, I noticed on TV they never showed slow motion replays of these drives and clingan blocks and denials. Shannon ended up on the floor on at least 4 drives with no calls. no replay on any of them. but the announcers did comment. watch the game again and pay attention to the 1st 10 minutes. So before all you Uconn fanatics give uconn all the credit just know the first half officiating had a lot, lot, lot to do with it.

There could have been calls on both teams. Refs don’t decide a 25 point game.
@hanibalsmith2116
@hanibalsmith2116 2 ай бұрын
@andrewberg3518 there were significant fouls on Clingan in first 5 minutes that would have majorly effected the game. Clinging should have been sitting out first half if appropriate officiating was done. and that would half almost certainly lead to Illinois going into half time with a lead. And that would have given all momentum to Illinois and that 30 pt run would almost certainly not happened. So you are 100% incorrect. Often one bad call has de idea games. You obviously are not a regular viewer of div 1 basketball. Probably a march madness viewer like most.

@@hanibalsmith2116if you’re a regular viewer of division 1 college basketball you’d know that refs let teams play with exactly this level of physicality & contact without calling fouls pretty frequently it’s almost a nightly thing in the Big East, and from what I’ve heard all year long, we’re “cupcakes” compared to the physicality of the Big 10 and Big 12 so why can’t Illinois handle it? you’d think Brad Underwear would be smart enough to recognize the type of game the refs are officiating, allowing them to use a bit more physicality on Clingan than normal, but no Hawkins completely gives up strong side positioning in a poor attempt to seal the entry pass and Clingan gets free layups under the rim virtually every possession

Hey Danny, go watch some videos of a couple coaches who won more titles than you ever will - John Wooden and Coach K. That's how you act as a coach when you win a big game...
