Hey, Guys. I think that she definitely has the inside track in the 'Freshman Derby'. To begin with, she got to practice with the team, travel with the team and watch all team activities. I'm thinking that she learned a lot of things from being involved in practices. She also learned a lot about the UCONN way of doing things and the expectations of the coaches from practicing and listening. I also think that it is a big plus that this lady was the starting point guard of the Egyptian National Team and that her father was the coach. I coached my daughters in high school and I guarantee you that they learned some basketball on the drive home and around the dinner table (before Mom said, "No more basketball tonight, OK?" The short version is "I can't wait to watch her play!" Thanks for the video.

I'm with you, Jason. UCONN has had outstanding success in selecting players from outside of the US, so I'm hoping that this pick follows suit with the recent ones!

Hey guys I am enjoying your shows on the Huskies. I need a good BB fix so I signed up for league pass. I love to follow the former huskies playing in the league. I've been watching New York in particular. Stewie and Steph Dolson are shining. And Marine Johannes, wow she is exactly what the league needs. I could watch her highlite shows all day. The whole team reminds me of the huskies. I hope I didn't screw up here cause I know you guys decided not to do a NY thing. In any case keep up your good work, I'll be watching.

I think Jana is the hidden gem this year. PT Eddie has it right she should have gotten rid of the Freshmen jitters from her experience last season. Plus I've seen her play in tournaments, and a recient video of this Season's Summer workout. She will make Amari a bench warmer again this season, sad to say. Another point, Jana is like Dorka, and Ice is the second coming of Aaliyah.

Looking forward to seeing the anticipated return time. I saw 4-6 months which means she could return between November to January. Then I saw 6-12 months which could mean she won’t play at all this season. 😢

I watched the video of Egypt vs Madagascar and in that El Alfy showed a few good things and a couple of weaker things. She shoots well, hit a couple of 3s, positions herself well for offense or defense, handles the ball well, but needs her FT form improved a bit (tightened up for precision), avoid moving screens, hustle down the court for defense. She doesn't make big mistakes. and she's a team player. Add some muscle, trim some weight (like a lot of high school kids), make her a bit quicker and better jumper. There's a lot of potential. She doesn't play like the other recent bigs, but everybody is different. The speed of the UConn game may be difficult for a while. It's like watching Boston walk down the floor all the time.

your assessment is ok. Remember that she has had a lot of time to pick up on the speed of the game because she has been allowed to practice with the team. I think she will. surprise some people. I did pay a lot of attention to her even though she was on the bench. She seems like she has a lot of fire in her watching some of her reactions to some of the foul calls. UConn could use some of that fiery attitude on the floor.

Ice, Jana, Ayanna, & Amari (last chance ). Let them each play an undisturbed quarter per game and roll with it. Do this during pre-season and a couple of games against stiffs.

yeah because I am sure Geno does not know how to handle his players. LMAO at your statement.

@@AnthonyTomassi-y6j You Johnny comes lately don't know squat. You start following a team and instantly think you should be an assistant coach. There have been many players that Geno couldn't handle. His response was to bench them or gently persuade them to leave. Prime example was Stewie. The same happened with Rizziotti. Only during Nika's 3rd season did she become coachable. Paige at times has openly mocked him. But she's allowed the leeway because of her talents. I laugh at your idiotic statement.

@@arthur-ri4zo Totally disagree with your laughable statement. Talk about idiotic. You say there have been many players he couldn't handle. But all the players you mentioned he handled just fine. Yeah he benched Stewie in her freshman year. Thats exactly how he was able to handle her. She admits she was just a little on the side of she knew it all already. She was probably his best player and he benched her. Pretty sure she got the message. Also pretty sure thats how he HANDLED it. he handles them best way a coach can Bench them take there playing time show them hey its my way or the highway. pretty sure there has not been any players that ever played 4 years for Geno he hasn't been able to handle. Some may be more stubborn than others but he has handled them just fine. Nika her first 2 years pretty sure he was scratching his head but how did he not handle her. may have taken some time but believe me she got handled just fine.

Jana should play I'm thinking 12 to 15 minutes. She should be a head and use to Uconn system.

they NEED her to eat up space and bang down low. They don't need the Euro-style-perimeter play that she's exhibited to date. If she can bulk up and make that transition (to a post player), she has great upside. Think of UConn vs. SC, LSU, etc. If she can't morph into a physical presence, her playing time at UConn will not develop

like anybody else how she looks in practice will determine her PT.
