I chose UCSB over UCLA. The economics program at UCSB had many more classes in my area of interest. The economics department is also home to a couple of Nobel Prize Laureates. Overall, UCSB is an awesome school - the academics, the students, the professors, Isla Vista, the weather, the beach, the weekend parties, the beautiful campus , a state of the art library, etc.... UCSB has a lot to offer.

I am an alum of UCSB. I attended it a very long time ago. At the time, I was living 50 miles away from UCSB. I applied for two colleges- UCSB and Northridge. I was accepted by both, but I chose UCSB. Being close to home was my primary reason for choosing UCSB; however, the college has many wonderful attributes- gorgeous setting, great people, and an excellent curriculum and professors. My student days at UCSB were some of the best of my life!

When I grow up I look forward to joining UCSB. But, I’m currently in sixth grade so there’s many chances of me looking forward to other university’s. Though, my sister is about to go to UCSB! She wants to be an english major. :D

Dollie davis San Francisco can be very expensive, but you can get lots of internships because it’s near Silicon Valley, but you are gonna be competing against students from Stanford and Berkeley for those internships. I honestly, don’t know too much about UCSF, but I did get accepted into UCSB and I am gonna be enrolling this fall. Every year, SB is harder to get into as they are currently ranked #5 in the nation based on public schools. I recommend not overloading yourself in APs and clubs you truly don’t have any interest in. Since you wanna go to the medical field, I recommend that you take APs in the sciences , or ones that you truly think you would succeed in. Its not all stats, your personal insight questions are a huge part of your application and can be the determining factor if you get in or not. College process is spontaneous, some students with gleaming stats will be rejected and can be baffling, so even if you are in the top, it isn’t guaranteed acceptance. I was fortunate enough to get into this school as it was my top choice. Good luck in your high school journey as it goes by fast.

UCSF is only for graduate school, so you can only apply after completing a bachelors degree at a 4 year university. In terms of graduate school, UCSF is usually ranked higher than UCSB, but it obviously depends on the programs you are looking at. Another important point is what Eric Guzman highlighted, that studying in the bay area can be challenging since you are competing against Berkeley and Stanford students, however, UCSF is still a top notch university, and while applying to internships, the most important thing is your communication skills. Also, do not let money be a factor that decides whether you go to a university or not; as long as you complete your program, you should make enough money to pay for student loans, so just have a clear goal and do not drop out (easier said than done, but doable). I recently got admitted to UCSB and I'm waiting for UCLA and Stanford to make my decision, but UCSB is a great school regardless, so if you go there, you should feel proud of your efforts!
