Dear Renu, The Mother's help does not depend upon someone being an Ashram inmate or not. It extends everywhere and to everybody sine She is everywhere and in everybody. What is however needed is to open to her Help, to receive it rightly with faith and confidence rather than resist her action through doubt and despair. Being physically close to Her has little to do with our inner opening. It is an occult arrangement which often has roots in past lives. Sadhana and receiving Her help is a different matter. One can do it anywhere if one is ready. equally one can be very near and yet not be destined or ready for the plunge into yoga. At best it is a possibility given for a special purpose. At worst it can make the individual rather complacent and thereby resist the action of Her Force. The conditions required for receiving Her Grace are always inner. As Sri Aurobindo mentions in The Mother, they are faith, sincerity and surrender: The more complete your faith, sincerity and surrender, the more will grace and protection be with you. And when the grace and protection of the Divine Mother are with you, what is there that can touch you or whom need you fear? A little of it even will carry you through all difficulties, obstacles and dangers; surrounded by its full presence you can go securely on your way because it is hers, careless of all menace, unaffected by any hostility however powerful, whether from this world or from worlds invisible. Its touch can turn difficulties into opportunities, failure into success and weakness into unfaltering strength. For the grace of the Divine Mother is the sanction of the Supreme and now or tomorrow its effect is sure, a thing decreed, inevitable and irresistible. Affectionately alok da
