Uday Bhawalkar: Raag Gujari Todi

Uday Bhawalkar performs a lovely Raag Gujari Todi as his closing piece at FEA's 4th annual Diwali Concert Series held at YB Chavan Centre, Nariman Point, Mumbai on Sunday 1st November 2015. He is accompanied here by Pratap Awad on pakhawaj, Prassanna Vishwanathan and Chintan M. Upadhyay on tanpura and supporting vocals.

Todi's are most difficult, because you can't escape by using Komal Ma, instead you have to use Teevra Ma(Quite tough to lift). At the same time you have to use Re, Ga and Ni Komal.(Dha is an exception here). ONLY MASRTER'S JOB.

I think you're mistaken...Todi is definitely very difficult but there is no such thing as Komal Ma; it is either Shuddha Ma or Tivra Ma. In this particular raag, it is Sa, Komal Re, Komal Ga, Tivra Ma, Komal Dha and Shuddha Ni in the Aroh and Sa, Shuddha Ni, Komal Dha, Tivra Ma, Komal Ga, Komal Re and Sa in the Avaroh.
