UE Boom 2 vs UE Boom: Short Comparison

The ue boom 1 is much better sounding than the ue boom 2. The 1 uses less waterproofing material making the material less dense in front of the speaker cones so high notes come through a lot clearer. Ue boom 2 is tuned differently with a lot of extra eq in the highs giving it much less clear high frequencies. The Ue boom 2 is however a little bit louder.

The drivers in the UE Boom 2 were completely redesigned and provide 25% increase in loudness at maximum volume then UE Boom. The bass response and overall sound quality were improved. It got larger 1.75 inch active drivers and 3 inch passive radiators while the original Boom got 1.5 inch active drivers and 2 inch passive radiators. UE Boom 2 has extended the Bluetooth range to 100 feet (30 meters).

Salut! Utila comparația ta. Chiar azi am cumpărat UE Boom 2 LE și din ce văd, este varianta modernizata a lui UE Boom 2, nu o varianta inferioară. Calitatea sunetului și construcția sunt de calitate. Eu zic ca merita cele 60 de lire cheltuite.

I have both and to my ears the boom 1 wins hands down the sound is much clearer, where the boom 2 sounds muffled

@@patriciofernandeztome7891 well, only if you care about the stereo separation. For me mono also does the job. Also a downside if you pair a ue boom 2 with ue boom 1 is that the volume won't be the same on both

Yeah, there are better speakers on the market like JBL Charge 3, but I might have a crappy microphone, I think they sound actually decent, especially the UE Boom 2

Popa Sergiu The UE Boom 2 is overhyped and overpriced. All the features are nice and it is pretty loud, but the battery life is weak and the sound is pretty terrible.. So IMO it's very overhyped and overpriced. The 360 degree sound isn't quite as good as people think and the Bluetooth range isn't 100 feet, more like 70. The 360 degree sound doesn't work because: If you stand in front of the speaker (where the volume buttons are), you'll get some stereo separation, but the sound lacks clarity due to the lack of tweeters, which always also disperse sound better to the sides than full range drivers. And when you stand directly in front of one driver, the whole stereo separation is gone, and the boosted highs start sounding pretty harsh. Further, there's no bass in this speaker, it hardly reaches deeper than 90 Hz. The highs are way too boosted, and the mids are lacking. This strange 150 Hz upper bass boost makes the sound pretty boomy, while there's no real bass. The sound is extremely unbalanced, it just doesn't sound real. And yes, it is loud, but that's just because they made the amp stronger, with hardly making the internals better, so it sounds like crap high volumes. No bass left, intermodulation distortion. Then there's the EQ in the app.. that doesn't work. First, there's only 5 EQ bands, which isn't close to enough. Second, the lowest band is only 150 Hz. You can hardly call that bass. They probably did that because they already knew that the speaker cannot reach deep at all. They claim that the battery lasts for 15 hours. This is simply not true when using it at normal volumes. At maximum volume it'll only last you about 3 hours, of course, depending on the music genre, of which the really bass heavy music only lasts two and a half hours. So yes, this thing is overhyped and overpriced.

Otto Meijerhof yeah, what you say is completely true. But I got it for like 130$ new, which is pretty decent. 200$, which is the original price is indeed way too high

Popa Sergiu How funny. The Jbl Flip 3 costs 80$, and still beats it in terms of sound. It has even been beaten by a 36$ speaker, about the same size. The upcoming Flip 4, 100$, will be better than the Flip 3, and so, way better than the Boom 2..

Otto Meijerhof well, i know about the flip 3, it's great, but I don't know really that cheap speakers to beat the UE boom 2 like 36$
