One of the greatest living Mahler conductors. His Mahler cycle with the RCO is fantastic, I think.

Chailly is the chief conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam - that says it all. The RCO is currently probably the best orchestra in the world and Chailly is a wonderful conductor. His recordings of Mahler's symphonies with the RCO are top-of-the-line.

God love you for conveying how Mahler expanded and developed symphonic form from Bruckner.

Leipzig Gewandhaus? Over Amsterdam Concertgebouw? As a Mahler orchestra? Why? Isn't Nikisch and Mendelssohn enough?
