I get a really weird foot tapping problem and it doesn't recognize all of the sockets I've assigned to pick things up and attach to the character when I use the new mesh. please help😞

haven't used the kit or UE in a while but if you're on ue5 this setup might not work

For anyone who has an issue with the "Foot Tapping Glitch", first add the ALS Virtual Bones to the character skeleton (before you delete or export).

How does importing custom armor/clothing go? Im very new to stuff like this. I looked at the clothing already in the pack, and they all use the same skeleton as the player. So in blender, would i just duplicate my character's skeleton, and apply it to the clothing, then import that into ue4 to be used? A tutorial would be great, or some advice as im fairly clueless! :D

I haven't done that before but usually the armour would have it's own skeleton and you would need to follow the same method here if the skeleton does not match the als mannequin. In most cases you can just delete the skeleton and retarget to the als one without trouble

How did you make the Man model animate to the als animations in the als character blueprint. I’m having trouble with the character animating to the als animations. Pls help

what kind of trouble? using this method I was able to retarget fine, however there is another method that is easier and doesn't require the use of a 3d modeller. You can remove the virtual bones on the ALS mannequin before trying to convert the new skeleton across. But you will need to replace them afterward. Have a quick search for a video on how to do that.

Man, I need your help. My if I set my body mesh, the animations are kinda broken for some meshes. Hip orientation is weird. Can I show you screenshot in disco?

hey yeah if you're in a discord I am in feel free to hit me up, sounds like you may be coupling either the wrong or mismatched skeleton for meshes, or you have a second animbp set.

hi, I tried to follow the tutorial step by step but after removing the skeleton and done replace references, assigned ALS skeleton and trying to open the Skeletal Mesh it gives me this error message "The preview mesh hierarchy no longer matches Skeleton. Would you like to regenerate the skeleton? " Could you help me ?

Hmm not sure, was the structure of the skeleton the same as the als one, just with a few more bones? if not then I am not sure how to help. I can suggest trying an alternative method which is deleting the virtual bones from the als skeleton and replacing them afterward, but you'll need to search for a video on that as I don't have one.

@@wiglord The skeleton is that of the UE4 mannequin, I exported and imported it to Maya skinned to my mesh and imported to UE4, but as soon as I follow the steps of your video you give me that message there, thank you very much for the quick reply.

@@vituzzo96 oh ok well yeah this tutorial is for meshes already skinned with the same hierarchy, just a few extra bones. I am not sure how to help you with your version. Is there a reason you had to strip the skeleton? Maya and a few other programs like blender should already have the UE4 skeleton as an option to bone your mesh to

I dont think I have any with different names however you'll find that in most cases as long as the structure is the same you can just use the auto retarget to humanoid feature in the skeleton blueprint for this. As for different number, that is what this video is about, in this method i removed the extra bones. However there is a less intrusive method whereby you delete the virtual bones off the als skeleton before retargeting. However you will need to put them back again so cut n paste is the best way there

@@RedzwanulHuq nah sorry I haven't gone that far, but have a look for videos on Auto rig pro for blender. I have a copy of it to make models for UE4 but I haven't given it a proper go yet. There should be a bunch of videos on YT for it

Why did they ruin this feature in ue5 such a pain in the ass anyone know of a work around in ue5 so you character doesnt deform to parent mesh all animations seem fine but it stretches my character models

this is just one way of doing it, not sure why it didnt work for you though! You can try an alternate method which is removing the virtual bones from the ALS mannequin skeleton and then retargeting your model to that, but you will have to replace the virtual bones afterward. Do a quick search to see if you can find a tutorial for that method if it helps.
