It's due to the fact that the Frostbite engine will never work for a game of football. Look how the players run and move. It looks like they are ice-skating all over the field.

The footplanting animations are far from EA's finest but using Anth's gameplay mod, it's a massive improvement compared to the zig zag ninja dribbling of the default game.
