In Germany we call it "Betonschüsseln" (concrete bowls). They weren't a pleasure (far away from the pitch and exposed to the weather).

Berlin wasn't a venue in 1988 because of the conflict between East and West Germany. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Euro_1988#Bid_process

@@paulyb7267 - I don't know. I'm a bit too young but back then every little thing could cause a diplomatic issue. Plus West Berlin wasn't such an important city in terms of football back in the 80s.
