Is this the same Eamon Dunphy who once said that he’d join the UVF in the event of a United Ireland? Caravajal is entitled to his opinion like everyone else, but unlike most other people, he’s a pro sportsman with a massive platform. If you publicly express political opinions on divisive topics, you’d better be ready to field a few questions.

Thank you for this excellent analysis. It gives political and cultural context to a resurgent Spanish side and their two young Black wonder players which I haven't heard anywhere else. As serious contenders for the title, it certainly is food for thought.

United Kingdom is more divided than Spain. Spain got a unique sport team but UK got Scotland, England, Wales and North Ireland. Please....

They all have national teams because they were playing each other for several decades before FIFA was even founded. The Home Championship ran for 25 years before wider international competition got going.
