I like upsets once in a while. It certainly would have been something if both Gane and Grasso wins considering that both Jon and Valentina have had great longevity and their time.. Just hope the fights have some back and forth moments.

When fighters like Conor talk about "creating your own reality," there are 2 clear examples: 1.) Conor McGregor's fight with RDA for the title at 155 pounds fell apart after RDA stubbed his toe on a chew toy. While flailing his arms wildly against RDA, Eddie accidentally won the title by stoppage.. Conor then skipped RDA, to face a very unsteady "deer in the headlights" Eddie Alvarez for the title. 2.) Through a bizarre unprecedented turn of events, Ngannou left the UFC on a win, vacating the title and leaving behind an old battered Stipe and a completely unmotivated Cyrl Gane, basically just handing Jones a free heavyweight title. Consider Tony Ferguson's career for contrast.

To answer Lukes question regarding if Gane is what you’d build if you want a fighter that beats Jones the answer is no. You don’t need to build anyone. *Tom Aspinall* is the answer. He is the fight, except nuclear Francis, that has the tools to win over Jones. He is faster, can crrrrack, can sub any HW and most likly has enough of wrestling to at least hang with JJ.

gane and others being born athletic is similar to, if not the same as guys that are born and look like musicians; rock n rollers to be exact. tall, skinny, thick hair. the idea that you have to look like that has been somewhat shattered over the years, of course there is diversity, but if youre playing rolling stones style rock n roll and are 6'3 130lbs, the overweight guy who is balding, playing the same style music but is significantly better is 9 times out of 10 gonna be passed on or over looked if youve got some big-wig record executive whos looking for the next band of rockers to rule the world. ive always thought it would be interesting to do a weird experiment where you get a bunch of people that have similar characteristics, like how some people for some reason look like a bird, some people do weird things with their wrists, the distinctions are endless - basically just categorizing people that look the same. tons of people look like various animals, from horses to frogs, birds as i mentioned. and im not just talking about, "you have an oval face, so this style of glasses are good for you."...its something different. some people look evil, some people look like a mushroom. i guess perhaps its all subjective, but im curious if anyone else has ever thought of this. maybe there have been such studies that im unfamiliar with and if so, id love to know. i have a feeling there isnt though since ol william and mary luke cant describe this much better than i can. i guess ive always wanted to articulate that but never had a public or online forum where it seemed appropriate. im sure ill get shit on for people thinking this is utter retardation, but cut me some slack, i didnt sleep last night.

Cody garbrandt represent what happens when a fighter has a lot of ability but has a terrible chin. He beat a legend in dominick cruz in an impressive way, but it was more of a stylistic thing than him being great. There was a reason why he did good in that fight, a trick that people missed, and its simply Dominick cruz doesn't have ko power. First of all cody fought cruz the exact same way he fought tj and munhoz and assuncao People only remember the exchanges of punches cody did against tj and munhoz that lead him to being koed, But nobody seems to remember that Cody was also in many of the same type of flurry of punches exchanges with dominick cruz and he got caught by cruz on multiple occasions, but he didn't get hurt or dropped because cruz has pillows for hands. everytime cody fought anybody with real ko power he lost in brutal fashion. Tj dillashaw and munhoz and France. Thats why he was able to beat assuncao after his 3 loses streak, because assuncao don't have power. Cody stopped his amateur boxing because he was getting koed there as well and in his amateur mma he also got koed cold before hand. It's just a fact if he had max holloway chin he would have been a long reigning champio but life doesn't work like that.

I think you left out he was void of emotion in the cruz fight, very relaxed. He did get hit by cruz but didn't rush in to get one back straight away, power or not. He was unfortunate in the first tj fight as he had success early and got caught hard the following round. He got clipped with a knee in the munioz fight and that last sequence was utter nonsense planting his feet and trying to win the hardest head award. Yes his chin is gone but he beat cruz through superior skill/speed and repetition, his team had 4 fights with cruz at that stage? They knew him well

well if Valentina isnt the goat, neither is Amanda Nunes. Cyborg is still womens mma goat, but Valentina has to be #2, Nunes is not the fkn goat. Valentina only lost to her twice, fighting up in weight, and her only other loss was a doctor stoppage. Amanda has lost 5 times, and she managed to lose to Pena somehow ( who valentina finished btw) and couldnt manage to finish Pena in her last fight either. If Valentina was equal in size with Amanda, she beats her fairly easily
