Not pissed with the guy. But with him being on the main card in this huge event in his 6th fight, while competing against an unranked fighter. While ex-champs are on the prelims or early prelims.

Not true what he said at the end. Anderson Silva, Jiri, Brock Lesnar, Michael Chandler are examples of not organic fighters with true potential that the UFC rushed to give them main events and even title shots. And it payed off.

yeah as he was saying that last bit i was like hold on. jon jones was touted as the second coming of jesus when he was 22 years old. a lot of fighters are given cans to beat up on before they actually make it. i think it might be unprecedented the shameless level at which bo nickal is being helped and pushed through, but this is not a new strategy. look at everybody christian rodriguez has fought lol. they tried to feed him to raul rosas jr and cameron saaiman to make them look good. it just backfired.
@JabzMMA18 күн бұрын
That's a fair point... but in each of those insistences, I would argue, the UFC was either lacking star power as it was in its infancy or the particular division was lackluster.. I mean Jose was just handed the featherweight title. The Mike Chandler title opportunity after beating Hooker was bizarre to me though.
@tacotacotington363817 күн бұрын
@@JabzMMA Jose was handed the belt because the UFC didn't have a featherweight division, and literally bought WEC out for its lower weight class roster which the UFC didn't have. WEC was the premiere 145. Aldo was that champion. Cruz also technically won the 135 belt for UFC at WEC 53, which was an event they had After the merger was announced.

@@stimpaxx Jon Jones had 7 wins in the UFC before getting his title fight, and Ryan Bader was ranked top 5, which was who he fought prior to the title fight. Too many new fans don't understand rankings existed prior to the UFC calling their rankings the official rankings, which even currently are still done by the old ranking system which relies entirely on journalists voting.
@stimpaxx17 күн бұрын
@@tacotacotington3638 except the ranking system basically doesn’t mean shit lol. the ufc will always prioritize money and interest over what the rankings are. i just meant to say that they will push fighters and some don’t get a “fair” shake. look at belal. nobody gives a shit about him so he doesn’t get a title shot lol. there’s no path to the belt for him except for a lull within the division. i’m not complaining, i’m just saying the ufc prioritizes some guys.

He's a future champion imo. None of the points made here were really valid. Of course he's not gonna fight anyone major just yet. I was amped for his last night. He did underperform vs expectations (and he was the first to say it). I think the most hilarious point you made was: "no one forced it upon us that Lebron James is the best basketball player of this generation. It organically happened" lmao! Lebron couldn't be further away from that to anyone that understands the game, and yes, his status IS being "forced upon us" through his jock sniffers at ESPN. More so than any athlete in the history of sports.

I say this again, how do you build a guy who no one wants to fight? You out them in front of eyes on main cards! You make their name value so high fighters forget about their ranking to fight him. The ufc doesn't want another khabib or islam situation, especially when they need stars more than ever! It's really simple but everyone is either stupid or just following the trend of acting like a karen over anything and everything!

Do you know how many people I've heard this week saying "the only fight I'd really pay to see on this card is the Bo Nickal fight." The card is full of hall-of-famers and really good fights but Bo might have the biggest PAY PER VIEW draw. I know what you're thinking. "Max Holloway has a huge fan-base that have been following him for 15 year." True. But we know the statistics for what an average Holloway fight sells. We also know that people are excited about Bo Nickal - it was the same with Khamzat Chimaev and same with Conor McGregor and same with Sean O'Malley. People are excited and people are talking about it and, while this card is full of really good fights, this is really the only thing that feels like a sort of "super fight" style vibe where we might have a chance to witness greatness. We know with all these fighters on this whole event we're going to get some really good fights but the most exciting thing about it might be we that we get to see Bo Nickal lose or Bo Nickal finish another person in under 2 minutes. It brings something unique to the card. That couple with the fact that Bo Nickal already has a massive following of supporters. To those not familiar the wrestling world I understand them not getting it but every wrestler in the country knows who Bo Nickal is. So does every coach. So does every dad of a wrestler. So do the moms of wrestlers. Etc etc. Wrestling is a nationwide sport and almost every high school in the country has a team. He's a household name in that community. This is something that the vast majority of other fighters don't bring. You're worth whatever you can get in this life. If him/his team/his manager have convinced Dana that he's worth a main card ppv slot then guess what, that's what he's worth. Dana runs the UFC, which means he answers to no one but ownership and God. So his is the only opinion that really matters anyway. And I think Dana knows what he's doing.

@MartialArtsNk13 күн бұрын
Son, the fact you're around wrestling dad circles does NOT means this is something that should be done. Bo has NO such PPV fanbase. Lets be honest 99% of people who wanted UFC 300 certainly didn't do so to see Bo take on freaking Bumdage, and Bo ain't anywhere close to the level of Conor. Bo is above O'Malley cause most O'Malley fans are young people who know how to watch illegal streams while most of Bo's fans are wrestling dads from the US who will pay for the PPV. Still doesn't makes him anywhere close to being the biggest PPV draw. Especially over Pereira, Holloway, Gaethje, Prochazka and so on.
@Phi235813 күн бұрын
@@MartialArtsNk You do realize that your own personal opinion of fighters does not affect reality? The numbers have been stated by Dana publicly at press conferences and other interviews. Just because you personally have never seen a wrestling mat, which is why you've been getting your ass kicked by wrestlers your whole martial arts career(or are too afraid to engage them), does not make that the reality of the sport, Wrestling has a huge fanbase worldwide. If you don't know that - you don't know much. Luckily Dana and the powers that be know it and that's why Bo was where he was at even if his performance was sus. I think that you're probably a taekwondo instructor because your general attitude tells me that you've never been punched in the mouth. Not to mention the bizarre freudian slip about wrestling dads. And before you make any immature remarks and assumptions about who/what you think I am. I'm a 37 year old former wrestler, boxer, and MMA fighter out of the quad cities. I've had 2 fights in the UFC - they didn't go that well but I've held belts in other promotions.
@MartialArtsNk12 күн бұрын
@@Phi2358 And you had 2 fights in the UFC which didn't go so well.... Ok the typical 2 losses = cut. You have held belts in other organizations... Ok since you lost your first 2 UFC fights (vs bums on the tester), we can safely assume you never held a Bellator, OneFC, KSW, Rizin, EliteFC, heck even a Cage Warriors belt. And I'm a taekwondo instructor who has never been punched in the face? My first love for combat sports is boxing so yeah I got punched in the face. Though not as much as you apparently as your CTE makes you think I'm a taekwondo McDojo instructor.
