Sean's arms looked completely out of shape. Merab looked like a body building grappler, that's why Sean didn't shake his hand. I'm a big fan of Sean but he looked really small against Merab. Why isn't welch fucking screaming "GO IN" at the top of his lungs?? That was just weird to me and I wish I could understand why it happened.
@StreslaManagementАй бұрын
Grasso and O'Malley both just got out worked, and out coached. Grasso assumed she would be on her back and trained with Lopez. But he waited until the fourth round to tell her she had to get up. Before, her team wanted to work from the guard but Valentina had much more success controlling her from half guard. Also, I think she lost a guillotine because Valentina start "punching" her lightly and Alexa told the ref she tapped. O'Malley's team was too concerned with "not getting taken down" which is not inherently takedown defense. He was scared to get taken down so he didn't kick. And on the ground, his technique wasn't bad but Merab was demonstratively stronger and he just big bothered him. All those chokes and neck cranks were about pain and suffering so he focused on control instead of chasing a submission. Both champs showed up with the wrong gameplans and their coaches failed to make adjustments or give them anything beyond generic tips until it was too late.

Shout out to the refs for not stopping the fights for Aldana, Rodriguez, and Zellhuber and allowing them to showcase the Mexican spirit. Even in the face of defeat, a true Mexican warrior will push forward.

Wrestling won the Co-main and Main. I honestly was starting to think being in the UFC, that Wrestling defense was a pre-requisite. That Card was awesome, and I liked the Visual for the SPHERE. Had me hyped, and it delivered. Unfortunately MMA (UFC) has a lot of Casuals that don't understand the dynamics for a fighter to have a multiple domain ability. I personally don't mind when they are in a scramble for over and under, or grabbling positions. I understand how hard all that is, and the chess match being played.

Zellhuber gained a lot of fans saturday, we thought he was just a lanky tall dude who only fight from range but he was ready to throw down and he has a good chin, i expect great things from him in the future.

Hey Weasel! Honest question. Where do you think the UFC goes from here, growth wise, realistically, if the trend of wrestlers continue becoming champion? A lot of casual viewers Don’t care for the technical side of the discipline. You foresee Dana implementing a rule change or something to give the striker an advantage? You could clearly see he wasn’t happy with the main event. I kind of think we’ll see popularity become stagnant or even drop with the lack of prospect superstars, and current ones seemingly on their way out. Interested to hear your take though

There were many opportunities for Sean to catch merab with body kicks while merab was circling. And he waited until round 5 to throw them then actually hurt merab when he started throwing them. Also Sean was chasing merab instead of baiting him to walk into something, no feints, wasn’t using his footwork.

Been saying literally this-and shared said view on multiple platforms. I find myself upset with some of these recent cards (ON PAPER). I then “eat crow” when the cards end up being super fun. The Sphere isn’t made for fights. Putting the ring in the middle of everyone is promotion 101. It’s only good for seats closer up. But those nose bleed seats were horrible. Half the upper balconies paid thousands just to watch a movie.
@haerverkАй бұрын
The fights weren't the main attraction tho. Which was the stated purpose from the beginning.
@ErosXCaosАй бұрын
@@haerverk That sounds even worse. Besides, I’m saying it’s not a good fit for _fights._ And if it wasn’t in this case, as you say, then people paid thousands for a movie.

@@ErosXCaosof course the cost was expensive and not worth it unless you are a millionaire or something... But I think I'm the nose bleeds you are always looking at the big screen to see the fight. I got bad eye sight so I can't see the fighters for the rows I can afford. And the cage is covering the fighters most the fight anyway so it's obvious to me to watch the screen instead. Idk I never asked anyone else if they can see the cage and the intricacies of the fight without the big screen tv...
@ErosXCaosАй бұрын
@@goodfellas1001 Sure, that’s true, and even cage side they watch screens at times. But there’s no hope for the nose bleeds to see much of anything, which seems ridiculous to me. The Sphere is for concerts and shows, not fights.
@liuj88Ай бұрын
@@ErosXCaos "But there’s no hope for the nose bleeds to see much of anything...." Isn't this true no matter the venue, though? I do agree with you that the Sphere seemed to have been set up for movies + fights, so fewer could sit closer to the cage. Too gimmicky, in my opinion.

Couldn't ever afford this card but went to Ufc 161 and it was the best sporting event I've ever been to. Also, Merab is unbelievable but I don't understand why he doesn't try and finish.
