Very impressive head movement by aleksandar. I honestly thought his head movement was even better than illias because he doesnt dip his head as much when slipping and weaving making him less susceptible to knees and kicks after combos.

100%, I think he's more patient aswell, he blocked nearly every shot or slipped it, I think he's better than ilia defensively but I think Ilia is more dangerous cos he takes more risks that's why he gets the finishes but can get tagged up a few times, Alek doesn't seem to even get out of 2nd gear you can tell he's got alot more to give

There’s a lot of hype surrounding Alek because everyone around him, including fighters who are friends of the Topuria brothers, say that Alek is much more technical and polished in all areas than Illia himself. Even Merab, after his last fight, said that Alek was better than him and his older brother. In the fight, you could see how technical he is. He’s a very calm fighter who doesn’t overextend too much but dominated the stand-up throughout the fight (except for a few specific moments). Even when his opponent tried to take it to the ground, Alek always won the takedown exchanges and controlled the back. I think the reason we didn’t see a more dominant performance is that Colby Thicknesse is also a very skilled fighter with a strong ground game-otherwise, we probably would have seen Alek get a finish. In the end, both have spent years as training camp patners of the former and current Featherweight champion-there must be a reason for that, right? We need to give him time and see how he performs in his next fights. Honestly, I have high expectations for him.

Can someone explain what the interviewer said to insult topuria what happened?

Basically the interviewer made Alek an interview before the fight where he started it by saying: “this fight is Topuria’s Brother vs Volkanovski’s protege”, and Alex immediately responded that he was wrong and that this fight is not about someone’s brother, but it was Aleksander Topuria’s fight. I guess many people thought that Alek felt disrespected because he said that with a poker face, but i think he just wanted to be clear that he is the star of the night. I also think that the interviewer started with that phrase but he would make a point after that about that those labels aren’t important, but before he could say that, Alek interrupted. I guess many people in the comments of that video said that Alek might have felt disrespected, and that’s why the interviewer just wanted to clear that out in this interview.
