Jon not rushing to bulk up means that he's used to carrying around the weight. When it's fight time it won't feel weird for him. He'll be rusty for the 1st round possibly. But when his instincts kick in and he sees a hole in Gane's Armour. It's game over. IMO you'd have to almost kill Jon in the octagon to beat him. He doesn't want to lose. To you it's just a fight, to him: it's his destiny.

I love watching Gane fight because he moves very well. Having said that, unless Jones has some crazy ring rust to stiffle him, I don't think Gane will be able to do much against him. I expect Gane to try and KO him as early as possible because the longer the fight goes on the more Jones will adapt to whatever he is doing. I think Gane's best chance is to KO Jones as early as possible but I accept that I could be totally wrong. I am rooting for Gane.

Don't let the fight jargon fool you by DC. DC's mentality is that If I can't beat you than noone else can. In other words DC will feel better about his own loses If he knows noone else can beat Jon Jones. This is the unmistakable and proverbial lovers quarrel. If I can't have you than noone can. Outwardly DC is sounding like an honorable commentator, but there is no chance in hell he feels the same way inside. Take it to the bank

Jon is not a "wild man", he's just an extraordinary, elite fighter. THE.. elite, of the elites. When he's properly challenged, he gets excited, hungry, and passionate to fight. That's when Jon's a ferocious, yet technically masterful, monster in the octagon. Unfortunately, Jon's hunger/passion cooled off YEARS ago, due to the fact that he'd climbed to the top so f'ing easily; and, he defended his belt so easily for so many GD years in a row. That's why doing things like partying, n doing coke (the night before a World Title fight), against the number one contender in the world, etc, was normal to Jon. This became like an ordinary job for him. Just another day in the office. This is why he lost his passion, n his hunger that made him salivate over. It was just too easy, n boring. He began to fight, only from the mind. Strictly technical. But, the thing that made Jon so dangerous, and so incredibly talented in the first place, was his love for it. His competitive spirit. Thus, this is why, imo, Jon is going to RagDoll opponents in the octagon, like we've never seen him do before. Because Jon is going to be excited to fight. With his new body it'll present new challenges and new opportunities. New abilities, strengths, n weaknesses, which Jon will love learning how to utilize with efficiency and effectiveness. Imo, Jon's going to tear through HW's with absolute ferocity. And, then UFC will offer Ngannou a fat sacrificial lamb, retirement check, to cement Jon's daminance and legacy. And, if Hill is still chopping down everyone in the LHW division, then Jon will probably fight him eventually too, and then retire after beating him (unless, there is a new, very, very special phenom in midst (LHW or HW). This is the truth about Jon. It has ZERO to do with a "wild man" in Jon. It has everything to do with the passion and hunger inside of Jon, which is driven by competitiveness. #Worthy Challenges

@Bubba Horton Yeah Reyes isn't anything special. I was rooting for Jones to beat him, because I didn't think such a one dimensional guy as Reyes deserved to be champ. Yeah Jones should have won the rematch pretty easily, might have been an off night for him but he did lose that fight.

Jones is 6'4 and his walk around weight as light heavyweight was 230 and had to cut alot to make 205 which drains your body. . He's been sparring with heavyweights for many years. Arvloski, overeem, Francis ngannou etc so it's not like he hasn't felt heavyweight power.

@From Heaven To Earth well at the age that jones is and considering he has been training his whole life gaining a serious amount of extra muscle is probably not possible...he just does not have the genetics to be 250 with muscle but i get what you are saying that even if he did that may would lead to him become slower and not so agile...but gaining 20-25 pounds of fat and water which is what he gained based on the videos of his training i do not think it will have a good effect either

John Jones fight IQ, is at the top of the game . He has the ability to use every thing as his weapon, kicks , elbows, slaps , sweeps , grappling you name it , he has used everything to his advantage while stalking and tearing down his opponent thats how he comes at every one he fights , he also has that unique unconventional approach, crawling like a spider waiting to pounce . Thats what makes him scary , its his ability to do off the wall tactics. Ill say this, Francis is my personal favorite of all time fighter. Hands down. But i look forward to John Jones next. He has been in the business a long time and deserves this title shot .

“Jon didn’t have power at 205.” Kind of ironic coming from a guy who said that Jon killed the nerves in his stomach where he kicked him and he couldn’t feel anything for years. And that’s also the same guy that was tossing around dc like a sack of potatoes.
Jason Green
Jason Green 21 күн бұрын
@Sabian Jon has power too, he has shown it in many fights. He's just not a flat footed dude and all power wild swings like crazy. What I meant to say was punching and kicking are so different, you can generate a lot of power with even the 'weakest' kick because its like hitting with a bat. Punching is different because you have to concentrate force on a small surface area. His accomplishments speak for themselves. He would still wipe out the entire roster at 205 today, imho. He just wasn't as motivated for the Santos and Reyes fights, although Reyes gave him a hell of a fight. if there's any fight that Jones *may* have lost with different judging it was Gus 1 but he showed he is the better fighter in the second fight, left no doubt. He also beat DC twice and left no doubt there. Jon is the GOAT and neither GSP nor Khabib can tie his shoelaces, he is the absolute best. No one comes close. He was born to fight, he is a machine with a bulletproof mind and insane fight IQ. The size helped him at 205 back when most guys were 6'2 max but he also knew how to use it and it was far more than just size, like Lennox Lewis and Tyson Fury in boxing.
Sabian
Sabian 21 күн бұрын
@Jason Green yes I was mistaking you for another guy that was calling Jon a cheater cause he was bigger than everybody he fought, my fault. But yes there is no doubt Jon was a massive LHW. I’m not saying he wasn’t. And I’m also not saying that didn’t give him an obvious advantage. I’m saying, which this mainly goes to the other guy, that just because he is a certain height and is bigger, you can’t discredit for the things he has done which I feel like many try and do. But back to talking about power. Yes we know Jon doesn’t have knockout power but that’s not what he said. He said power in general. And Jon is known as one of the hardest and most brutal kickers when it comes to how pain and damage they do. So to say he doesn’t have it is false. Now if he would have said he doesn’t have striking power that would be different.
Jason Green
Jason Green 22 күн бұрын
@Sabian you're wrong dude. Pereira is a weight bully, Izzy is right bang on at 185. Jones was a gigantic 205lber as evidenced by him coming in huge as a HW not some cruiserweight / bridgerweight blown up crossover. Wrong is wrong and you are wrong again.

Old fight fan here. Boxing - when Benitez was beaten by Leonard he went up to middleweight - he got a bout with a contender,Hamsho - and I knew what Hamsho was all about. Benitez was a great, textbook, fighter - Hamsho was a mauler,a dirty fighter, and strong. Even Hagler had to get rough with him to defeat him. I told people who thought Benitez would easily win that I knew exactly what was going to happen - that Hamsho was going to get a hold of this highly skilled, smaller, opponent, that he was going to muscle him into a corner and beat him. That is what happened. Gane could do the same - and should do the same - but I don't know Gane. If he has the violence in him,as did Hamsho,he will get it done.

Mark Cowan
Mark Cowan 26 күн бұрын
Maybe, Gane has become a top level heavyweight fighter in the course of a few years. The dude is an athlete and if he wrestled every day, taking time to ensure his striking didn't suffer, he very well could have increased his wrestling to a point of atleast being defensive. I know DC struggled .with Jones because Jones height and reach were a problem. We also don't know how much Jones new size is going to weigh him down, or if he will gas out over the course of 5 rounds. Regardless of the outcome I think it's gonna be a great fight.

There is a reason Jones is fighting Gane. This is Dana's way of picking a winner. Everyone can see from Gane's last fight he does do well off his back. Jones will make a wrestling match of it. This couldn't be a better fight pic for Jones.

It should be Jon Jones at the end....but no matter how good you are, 3 years lay off along with weight increase will slow ur movements down....a guy like Ciryl Gane is such a dangerous match up coz he can grapple but Vs Francis, he was more into the KO power of Francis that he didn't really care about grappling.....unlike Francis, Gane won't hesitate getting into range of Jones......its a dangerous game for Jones

225/230 lbs is the perfect weight for hw imo. Jon was always a heavyweight who cut to 205. I think he's gonna dominate everybody.

Cyril is my favorite fighter, I hope he trains his takedown defence heavily. As for Jon jones, he's amazing but he hasn't looked that dominant in his last few fights, hasn't fought for 3 years, and has never fought someone like Cyril gane who is huge and powerful and very skilled.

Cyril Gane move really well for is size well skilled but jones experience and knowledge give him a big advantage but Gane definitely can surprise everyone but with the animal inside jones I don’t see him losing maybe both will be equal for a rematch or jones will win it in the last minute

People forget that Jones style is demoralizing opponents by either beating them in their strengths or going toe to toe. DC wrestling, Gustafson striking, Reyes Striking, the list goes on.

How can ppl think Jon is gonna go in there n totally dominate him on the ground? Last fight he had, he got out struck n could barely take the guy " Dominic" down. Gane is literally 30 lbs bigger of muscle. Francis also didn't have one leg, if he did there's no way he would have stepped in there. Ppl sleeping on Ciryl.

Jones should not take Cyril for granted! He is a natural heavy Weight, big, very solid, moves really well, punches fast and utilizes his feet very well and can strike with a lot of power kicks. Jones is good as well, only clear advantage is wresting and years of experience! To me it’s a 50-50 fight
