Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman will clash for the third time at UFC 286.
Dana White made the announcement during his appearance at the UFC Vegas 67 post-fight press conference. In addition to the title fight, White also declared that a lightweight banger between Justin Gaethje and Rafael Fiziev will serve as the co-main event for the night.UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards is preparing to face Kamaru Usman for the third time in his career at UFC 286, and he expects the fight to be nothing like the previous meetings.

It's not hard to understand. It's got to do with the nature of striking. When you fight someone that has knock out power, you have to be perfect the entire fight. Being up on the score cards is no credit to Usman when he couldn't avoid the strike that knocked him out. What does it matter that he was winning the fight? And when Leon managed to control Usman with his movements to knock him out once already, its gonna be easier for him to control him in a second fight by using his movements. Imagine the nerves going up against a guy that has kicked you unconscious. First time ever. I don't think it will, but it very well could make Usman scared. It all depends on what strategy Usman goes with. If I were him, I'd wrestle...

Leon was not broken at all if he was broke and he would have not kept fighting, elevation played a tremendous role in that fight... Do you see what he did in the first round after that he started firing out that's all it was cardio whereas Kamaru trains at a high elevation every Camp so he had that advantage, in this trilogy there will be no Advantage because it'll be below sea level or equal to sea level, but one thing for sure we will all see and as I said before and still!

Technically even if they fight at below sea level, I think Usman will still have an advantage because he trains at elevation. Sure, Edwards wil probably not gas as quickly, but Usman’s gas tank will be so much crazier than it is at elevation. It’s like having 2 races. First race, both runners have to wear parachutes, and one runner trains with parachutes and the other doesn’t. The guy who trains with them has the advantage. Then the next race, the same two runners race with no parachutes. The runner who trains with parachutes will probably still have the advantage because he’s used to having to work against a force slowing him down. Without that force, he’ll feel lighter and have so much more power than had he not trained with them. I know the example isn’t perfect, but I’m just saying Usman training at elevation gives him an advantage everywhere if the other person doesn’t also train at elevation.

If anything i believe Usman will be able to put on an insane pace at sea level, even if leons cardio is not comprised it was never better than Usmans

I think Leon should be the underdog. He was losing when he landed that kick so he needs the fight to play out differently from the start. I'm not sure how Usman will respond but he's not the first guy to get KO'd. GSP got laid out but he went on to be one of the greatest of all time. Islam was starched but is now the 155 champion. Usman has to feel that he's the better fighter and that all he has to do is the same thing he did last time minus getting knocked out in the fifth.

It is VERY common for champions to “lose” the first round. Because the other guy comes in with nothing to lose and everything to gain. The champ has to be patient and not take risks. That is why Leon looked good in the first round. Because Usman hasn’t started putting pressure on him and hasn’t figured out the rhythm. Usman is just way way more conditioned and will win 9 out of 10 times.

I think this fight will play out completely different, the only reason Leon looked like he faded was due to altitude, it was nothing to do with his gas tank. Look for Leon to initiate the clinches and takedowns and make kamaru work hard so he can get the finish round 3 or 4. Leon will not have the same gameplan this time, kamaru will be the one trying to get back to his feet and that plays right into Leon's wheelhouse.

I feel like Kamaru needs to KO Leon or he'll have to rematch. The last fight he was winning rounds without putting any damage on Leon. Leon was losing rounds because he was fighting with low energy, not throwing much back and looking sluggish. He wasn't losing rounds AND putting his best effort in. Kamaru is, without doubt, going to be hungrier and more determined this time but it's not like he can be in much better shape, or significantly better prepared, as he is a consummate pro and always is in great shape, always trains well. In effect, Leon was having an off day and won, while Kamaru was fighting at his usual high standard and lost. I think Leon's going to win again. He's going to have better energy this time and is so hard to catch.
