This was definitely a changing of the guard in my eyes, guys like Hermansson are the evolution of the boxer-grappler archetype popularised by guys like Henderson and Souza. Instead of relying on the huge hay-makers that Hendo and Souza did Hermansson sets up his take downs and power shots with jabs, feints and movement, which will ultimately allow for better success in his career. Very excited to see what Jack does in the future.

I wouldn’t say he avoided because of the guillotine (he did escape after all and necessarily wasn’t in huge danger), but Jacare tends to get punch happy like a lot of grapplers tend to do (he does have heavy hands) and probably realized he needed a knockout to win since he was down on the scorecards.
