Anyone can charge another fighter enough times to score a take down. It’s not exactly sticky floor in there which annoys me and others because the fighters look like they have battle the matt also. But if you can’t pound on the ground and the other fighter systematically gets up with out damage I personally see points for the the fighter getting up quick. It kinda nulls it in my opinion to where the take down is only a fraction of that attack score. You need to capitalize on the ground. All he threw was looping lefts as he was always coming in at a angle and never followed it up even once that i can recall with the trademark right high kick. He had some limited sucess with the takedown but you could see with the size difference in frames that he was never going to be able to keep him down. Rob was a big welterweight but average size middleweight the 4" height difference and 7" (Along with Izzy's great distance management) reach were big factors in this fight and will continue to be if they fight a hundred times.

He and Whittaker both landed punches that should theoretically score the same, but Izzy's just looked cleaner and crisper, as if to say "this is easy work". Rob had to dash in more frantically.

Rob would've won if he couldve kept izzy on the ground after the takedowns... but takedowns aren't as good if the opponent pops up in seconds after ... he was that close. I expect to see Rob fight for the belt sometime in the near future. He is a very skilled fighter who kept izzy on defense a good amount of the time. RESPECT TO ROB! GREAT FIGHT.

you gotta say why he won those rounds, can't just say he won. 5 was the most obvious win for whittaker in my opinion. He was way more active than izzy in that round.

They literally gave it to izzy off of leg strikes. Izzy might’ve looked like he controlled the octagon but it was Rob who was actually putting it on him. They had the exact same about of head and body strikes and Rob had 4 takedowns

I believe although Robert was at his peak in the fight but I guess he could have been better if he didn't focused to much on boxing and could have done better in wrestling part. I said so because when he was pushing for puching Izzy, he could have mixed it with double leg because Izzy was moving backword with his hands up, plus he could have attacked on body much more because Izzy has excellent head movements. So head hunting all the time was not the good move. But he fought well than anyone else in the division against the champ Izzy and TBH he made him look defeatable. On the top of that I'm no expert 😂

Huge respect for Robert Whittaker for putting up one hell of a fight and making this rematch much more interesting and competitive than the first fight. *I had Whittaker winning 48-47! The commentary was very biased.* Adesanya only landed the flash knockdown in Round 1, and then nothing else except point striking, and a few body kicks which Whittaker started avoiding later in the fight. Whittaker consistently countered Izzy with the stiff jab all night long, esp. whenever Adesanya committed to going forward. Whittaker landed numerous takedowns [and had a submission attempt] despite lack of control time, and still landed his own shots. If their arm and leg reach were identical, Whittaker wins comfortably.

Multiple takedowns? A takedown score is only when you take down your opponent and HOLD him down for more than 2 secs like rob did. He took him down and izzy popped right back up. It does not count as a takedown if you have 0 control. And you if you score thoose as takedowns, then defending a takedown should also be scored and izzy would be 30 points up. S
@vanguardmma24652 жыл бұрын
@@prophetmalzahar Whittaker secured 4 takedowns, and numerous others where he got Adesanya down for a split-second. He had 4 mins of control times too. Getting a flash takedown is worth more than some paddy cake point striking. He also had control time. He clearly won 3 rounds..

Lots of energy wasted, no advancement of position, Izzy was able to get right up and no damage was inflicted. Izzy saw him as such a low threat that he just stood up with Rob on his back and walked over to the cage to peel him off. 🤣

A lot of people saying it wasn't even close. I watched the fight without the commentary and with music instead. This i think made the fight seem a lot closer to me and I really thought rob edged it out. He wasn't super effective, but was more active and had more success. After round 1 he could have taken every single round potentially. Izzy did a really good job of staying composed and pressuring and most importantly not showing weakness when rob hurt him. However he missed most big shots and could not really toch rob with anything but legkicks. And in my opinion I would score the takedowns higher than a few legkicks. But I also do realize is that I am a little bit biased for rob. I feel like he did enough tho. Not a whole lot. But enough as in more than izzy.
