Conor was promised a title fight but Aldo wasn't gonna fight until a year, so he took a mid-time easy fight to simply get paid and thats why aldo was there in the crowd looking at the fight

He was a benchwarmer style fight mate. Like Fabio said, since Aldo was recovering from the war with Mendes in their 2nd fight and he was next against Conor (before the bruised rib pull-out at 189 that did see Mendes take his place) so while Aldo was out, Conor did a bit of can kicking and whipped Dennis to keep himself busy. It's a far cry from the McGregor post 2016 who fought once a year up until 2021 and then he broke his leg.
