I’ve been riding for 57 years all brands, all styles, raced for a few years. This little bike is just fun for this old biker!

I just picked up a 2024 brand new. In Arkansas list for 4999.99 with the dealer fees it was 5703.00. The used market in Arkansas is pretty crazy. Anywhere from 3500-4000 for 3-10 year old bikes. I used the Clarke 2.7 tank on my old TW but Im waiting on the 3.7 gal IMS tank for my 2024. Also I use to have the Bradley Performance big tire kit on my old one and I think I'll get another kit for the new one. I LOVE the TW200 for exploring the backwoods.

I love the TW200. I need to get mine plated. I got other machines. But the TW is my favorite. My dad took his TW to Moab and broke his ribs. But he took it all over the place. I learned a lot about motorcycle maintenance with the TW. Its very straightforward. If you can understand its limitations, its a blast.

With my tw200 I changed the rear sprocket to a 47 tooth with an x ring chain. Didn’t really notice much of a loss for hill climbs but did notice that the rpm’s were lower and better gas mileage. Also at 45ish miles per hour the rpm’s were a bit lower. It’s a 45 mph bike all day long. I didn’t push it much past that. I did put 30mm handle bar risers and a better skid plate. Rear rack. A brand new TW 200 is 4999.99 plus tax. So still around 5500 5600 out the door. Unless you have a dealer that adds all the fees like setup and freight and a doc fee. Only issue I ever ran into was the clutch spring for the clutch cable not being in the correct position. 30 sec fix. Thanks for the great video.

Thank you for your video, I've been riding bib bore thumper for 40 years. Grew up in the mojavee desert riding. Brought my riding style to north east ks 25 years ago. Love going down to nw Arkansas. Trading my 07 1st gen klr for a 21 tw to a young buddy. He's ready for an upgrade and I'm ready to slow down and take in the sights. Makes a good trade for us. Thanks again!!!

Depends if you are in an area where it is easy to use a carb. There are just so many great bikes out there, it gets complicated. There is the klx 230/ 230s, crf300ls, xr150l, the Suzuki dr200, and the xt250. But totally agree with you on small is better for starting on dual sports.

Fun bike. Love mine. More capable than a mini-bike or something like the Honda Trail 125, or maybe even the XR150L but less capable than the XT250. Awesome farm bike for putting around town, down a fireroad, on a trail. Great to go exploring with. Not as awesome on a busy highway, especially any kind of highway mountain pass. Not much suspension for trying to bomb down a rough road, so you may have less control than a more capable bike in similar fast / rough conditions. Small tank, but it matches the weight, size, and range it makes sense to drive these on. Love the older ones with the kick starter. Some great lines in overall styling and those big tires catch peoples attention while not causing trouble on the road like an old Honda Fat Cat.

I think you can still add a kicker, not sure if the CDI/ignition allows dead battery starts though.

T-DUB...I like it for fishing...go almost everywhere and reliable to get you back.....Imagine.....a 300 or 350, like the Honda Big wheel...that's the bike Yamaha should build...T-dubs big brother..............T-BUBBA......and make it a six speed......thousands would buy it. What a bike that would be...real low 1st and a true overdrive for 6...sign me up for that. As always, great content. Garth

I'm 73 and owned more bikes than u can count. I'm on my 5th TW. One of my most favourite multi use bikes. I have done a sprocket change to drop my RPM a little bit. Progressive front Springs, a pipe, Aftermarkets skid plate, change jetting on the carb. But at my age and a replaced knee, I think the bike is beating me up because of no suspension to speak of and the steering feels heavy. I live in western Canada and ride forestry roads and other terrain that has lots of rocks that are not forgiving. I am really wearing myself out trying to keep it on the road. But I do love the soft dirt trails. I am fixing up a Yamaha IT 175 because I will gain about 12 inches of travel and the bike will be lighter so we'll see how that goes.

Love my TW. Planned on buying a DR and I probably will eventually, but I'm so glad I ended up with a TW first. Having no off road experience, I didn't understand the value of a small bike until I started going deeeep into the woods. It'll get you way further than a bigger bike. It's slow as sin tho 😂

For me the cons on my '95 are: stock tank too small so I modded a xt 225 4.1 gal tank!😁

Good review! I'm an older, very seasoned off-road rider, with other bike, but I really want a TW. I currently have a Rokon Trailbreaker to play with, and is an absolute Goat, but it is too limited on where you can ride it. The TW would be much more versatile and have similar capabilities.

I think the biggest issue is people compare this to true dual sport bikes like my KLX300. The second you do that, you’ve failed the test lol. My TDub is coded as agricultural equipment for a reason. It’s a trail, wash, mine road, and cross country dream machine. People often don’t understand the addiction to the TDubs, but when I’m out winding up a rock choked wash to some mines in central Nevada, it all comes together in smiles. One big gripe though is how hard it is to change the front sprocket. Very annoying. Another plus…I hit the desert at around 40mph at TDub fest in Northern Utah last fall. Bike went end over end through the desert. Everything got busted up, but three hours later I had everything working again (with lots of duct tape). 😂. My KLX would never have come back to life in the field after a crash like that.

That looks like a fun bike to knock around on. My issue is the crap ethanol gas where I live. It already clogged up my Honda lawnmower after a year I had to take apart the carb and clean the jet. Nearest non ethanol gas is 50 miles away. Im on the east coast.

I’d avoid the front-drum braked version, unless you’re just going to ride off road.

Was that a tank at 24:18? I want a DR ultimately but I also like the sound of a TW, because I would mostly be on back roads learning and don't plan on riding it to work while everyone is half asleep or hung over and in a hurry. Ohio really is worse than many other states that way, I was offended until I drove in other states but now I know being from the Cleveland, Youngstown and Akron triangle, that we kind of suck at being courteous drivers here. It's wrong but everyone is first no matter who you are. If you go to another state people are more courteous. That bike supposedly was classified as Ag equipment by the manufacturer. They intended it to be used by farmers (hunters) as a work type vehicle and to round up animals. I guess in Australia they do use it on ranches because of how maneuverable it is, that's why you can go so slow on it, plus the wide tires are good in sand. That little bike is capable of more than I would ever use it for!

Excellent. But do you see a real role with the TW as your current style of riding dictates? BTW, my neighbor is selling the predecessor, the Big Wheel 200.

It's embarrassing that Yamaha is still offering this model. Heck, Honda has upgraded many GENERATORS to EFI! Carb, drum brake, non-LED lights, inadequate charging system, cheap handlebars and foot pegs - the list goes on and on. Buy it (at a ridiculous price!) and enjoy it. But just know that this is like paying 2024 dollars for a 1987 car or truck - and how many would pay a premium for these inadequate vehicles?
