As much fun as the one I built 40 years ago but that was twice the size and made out of 1in foam and covered in brown paper painted silver, it was immensely strong, it made it into the local paper as well 😁👍

Damn that global warming -- no snow! Love the flying saucer concept. I built a free-flight one way back in the very early 1960s.

Wow Bruce, would that have been all sheet or built up and tissued?
@xjet2 күн бұрын
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes It was a whole bunch of 1/16" balsa sheet and had a reflex in the flat-plate wing. Trimming was a tricky operation because even a hint too much turn and it would tighten into a spiral dive as the flight progressed. Happy days though.

Quite nice to get the place to yourself now and then. Nice fun model Cliff.

Hi Bob, yes, I wouldn't want it like that all the time though 🤔👍

Cliff great flying in the chill. The UFO seemed more stabile with the little bit of dihedral. Jeff in LA USA

Possibly so Jeff, except inverted of course 😁

1 degree, isn't that warm! 😂 During lockdown I went out when there was ice at the flying field, but I reckon cold doesn't suit me!

To a lot of folk it's probably balmy 😁👍

We had some snow here last week Cliff. The biggest issue i find is battery life can be greatly reduced in the low temperatures. Well done for getting out and flying. Beautiful spot you have there

Snow is so hit and miss! I try and keep the battery in my trouser pocket to combat that. There was a member in my previous club who had a warming device in his pocket which would help as well I guess!

Nice flight Cliff. That would’ve been cool to see a UFO flying in the snow. Can’t say I’ve ever seen that before 😁

Aww. I was hoping you'd give it the full DLG treatment and launch it like a discus...👽

It would ended up rolling down the hill Eleanor I expect, it would have amused the sheep though 😁

Cold fingers? I trained myself to fly with gloves. It took a few goes, but it is much more versatile that using some kind of covering, or "muff".
@CliffHarveyRCPlanes2 күн бұрын
That reminds me Gudjon I do have a pair of very thin leather gloves tucked away from my slope soaring day. The muff was to keep snow off of the tx 👍🙂

If it's snowing you should not be flying.

You want snow? I've got lots. You can have all of it.

The attraction of this particular storm was the fact I could get to and from the field on clear roads, snow causes havoc in England, especially in the South, us southerners prefer to stay home and build snowmen 🤣
