My first concert was my sophomore year in HS. 1979. UFO played with Aerosmith, Van Halen , Toto and others at the L.A. Colesium. UFO nearly stole the show. They blew us all away ! And I'll never forget bassist Pete Way running back and forth on stage and exhibiting sheer electricity. R.I.P. Pete. You were one of the greatest rockers of all time !

I grew up in Chicago. Saw ufo every time they played in the 70s. So I was there for the recording of strangers in the night. One of the best live albums ever. I'm 65 now and I'm so glad I grew up with all these great bands in my teen years. I listen to this music today and will continue till I draw my last breath. Music was written composed and performed with pure talent and authenticity you won't hear today

UFO's greatness around this time is entirely due to the fact they were an ensemble. Shenker rips, yes, but Mogg is uncanny, anchored by Way and Parker and Raymond. this performance is epic, gives me goosebumps every time.

@@V3ntilator And I say ‘hello’ back. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Schenker’s work but Paul was a point of difference. He sang great, played great guitar as well as keyboards. Other bands had great guitarists but not many had someone like Paul. He added a extra layer that other bands lacked.

I was at Strangers when it was recorded, Friday the 13th October, 1978, and listening to Michael's leads here STILL gives me goose bumps. His US tour kicks off tomorrow night in Redondo Beach, California and I'll see at least 3 of these shows. I've seen him well over 50 times, and NEVER been disappointed! He's been my favorite since '75, the first time I saw him. Long live Michael Schenker!

My first ever concert was seeing UFO live in Edinburgh way back when, on their last UK tour with Michael Schenker. Saw them a few times after that with Chapman, but although they were great, one of my all time favourite rock bands, they didn`t quite have the same bite as they had with Michael. Thinks me that Obsession is the best rock album ever, which should have catapulted them supersonic.

20! Isn't that crazy? After he ditched UFO (bad mistake - they had all the right ingredients for a household supergroup!) he was great on LOVE DRIVE but his solo stuff was a letdown for me. I couldn't even tell you a name of any of his songs they were so MOR mmeehhh. (I'm sorry!) Love this band though!

I have only 'stumbled' upon this metal masterpiece (thanks Sirius) and I have been to many, many concerts... This is a waaaay underrated, overlooked, hidden golden work of metal wonder, unless, alas, I was once again late to the party (no surprise there!) ... I was lucky to see UFO in London with Schencker just before he quit in 1979. It was my first concert and they were great. I agree they aren't heavy metal but were probably prety heavy for the time.

Just me thinking here, the "Lights Out' album came out in '77, a year before Van Galen's debut did. From all I've read and heard over 40+ years, quite a few great guitarists were intimidated by Eddie. With all due respect to Eddie, and he's one of my all-time favorites, I seriously doubt Michael was intimidated at all!This is my long-winded way of saying that Michael didn't play 2nd to anybody. IMO, he's as good a rock guitarist as anybody and better than most!

WHAT A FUCKIN' GOLDMINE! Thanks a heap for putting this up!! In '78, I got a chance to see UFO in Hammond Indiana (at their Civic Center... with basketball nets cranked up out of the way). Cheap Trick headlined this show (they flipped the bill the next night in Chicago), but UFO was AWESOME!! That is one concert I will never forget. Thanks again!
