Focusing on oil is the wrong choice that my country in making. The promise of a better life after harnessing this fossil fuel is merely a lie that we need to urgently run from. I can only see destruction of the Albertine graben, the Eco system, and deterioration of the livelihoods of the citizens. Our country is already hit with climate change and the degrading environment. We need to focus on things like sustainable agriculture and not this deceptive oil project

Ugandan oil was discovered in the early 1940 together with that one of Nigeria. Actually by 1942, SHELL International opted for oil production in Nigeria as Uganda oil was waxy (still is) and would be very expensive to extract it. That is why it had to take Uganda over 60years to start the oil production in the country.
