Jessica Alupo, Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, addresses the general debate of the 77th Session of the General Assembly of the UN (New York, 20 - 26 September 2022).
Vice President of Uganda Jessica Alupo told world leaders, “we must note that despite contributing an insignificant amount of global greenhouse gas emissions, the African continent, like many developing regions of the world, suffer the effects of climate change to a disproportionate degree.”
Delivering her speech today (22 Sep) at the high-level debate of the General Assembly in New York, the Vice President said, “our view is that development should be environmentally friendly, inclusive and provide benefits for all, it should leave no one behind.”
On terrorism, Vice President Alupo said, “as a community of nations, we must be unwavering in our resolve, to prevent and combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
She continued, “we should act in a coordinated manner at the national, regional and global level to counter the threat.”
On refugee crisis in the region, the Ugandan Vice President said, “we are committed to working with refugees sending countries, regional and international partners to address the causes of the refugee crisis.”
She urged the international community to continue supporting her country’s efforts in the region in this direction.
