I find it more impressive to see low-tier experts winning than easy-mode high-tier character-using players winning with the same old shit. There are enough MorriDooms and MagDoomNix teams out there already, there's nothing interesting about watching a shitty version of FChamp or GBNeo.

Some SERIOUS props to Paradigm, his patience is inhuman; then again, he DOES play Haggar xD Y'know, with all the hate directed towards Vergil nowadays, people seem to forget how much of a hassle it is to deal with Phoenix. If a player has exceptional movement(FChamp, Roach King) coupled with above average defense, the Dark Phoenix is almost guaranteed... Flight characters running around while calling assists(usually Doom missiles)is NOT easy to deal with. Though to be fair, anyone + hidden missiles works out well given enough fundamentals.

These games are becoming very boring to watch. It was exciting to see non top tier characters getting some air time, which is why I absolutely loved it when Kusoru stepped into the scene with Frank, Rocket Racoon and VJoe. Brokientier or Spooky should "try" like a ban match, banning all top tier characters. Pool selection where a handful of characters are only selectable. Random character selections. I could never reach the level of these guys, but I'm sure they can put on MUCH more entertaining matches where you're not watching a movie half of the time, at their skill levels with the lower tiered characters. #my2centsworth

In the UMVC3 subreddit, there's actually been some talk about this. Like, you're given a set number of "points" ton construct your team with, and you can't go over. Lower tier characters get lower point values, so if you pick Vergil or Zero you pretty much HAVE to have Hsien-Ko on your team. It sounded pretty fun to me.

Julius Greig This is a good idea. It's easy for an elitist to come in and just say "Adapt scrub!" But we're (the only ones in this conversation right now) only saying this for the entertainment, the enjoyment of Mahvel. Isn't that the point of Winter Brawl, SCO, EVO, etc.? For other fighting gamers to get together and play, whether there's money at stake or not? DBZ Tenkaichi 3 all ready has this system placed in the game, with the "DP point system" for DP matches. Basically you're allotted 15-25 DP, and every team can have a maximum of 5 characters, the benefits of this is that really powerful characters have like ... CRAZY amounts of DP points to use them. Goku in SSJ3 is worth something ridiculous like 13 points. It was a nice system, and I always thought it would be a good idea to add/implement this system into more relevant fighting games.

The majority of the videos we get is due to the lack of casual set-ups at the venue. Lots of these guys travel pretty far and want to play each other seriously to learn match-ups / new tricks, but can't leave the tournament hall due to still being in the tournament. While I could try to ask them to participate in a ratio / point match, but they may not be interested. I'll see what I can put together for this in the future. Thanks for your suggestions and feedback everyone!

This reminds me of something we did at my local MVC2 cab back in the day. We called it "Low Tier Tuesdays". I think if you mention to the player's sponsors that many people would be interested in watching it, the you could get the players to come. Perhaps a whole tournament with this point system that mr12000doxexe mentoioned. Alas I now see that this is a 9 month old conversation... Whatever, I'm sure people would still be interested. How would we implement that point system? There needs to be an(some) impartial judge(s). Maybe make a poll on that subredit, srk, and EH?
