Right mam , I work for 2.6 yrs as a lecturer, as of my experience I see many assistant professors but not able to communicate, teach student properly, students are meant to only pass exams, that is wrong. School , university, colleges syllabus and curriculum are many year back, still they are in old concept, like what is a machine ? But today is AI world, time to change higher education policy, having phd does not mean he/she is expertise, experience and field knowledge matters a lot.

The value of PhD and publications has seemed to be downgraded since it has been made mandatory for Selection into Assistant Professor(Entry Level). And so, many students having a good academic career is not opting to teaching in Colleges. Nowadays, most of the PhD/Publication is being done only to Improve/get the marks so that the total score for selection remains High. The minimum eligibility for any basic job is Graduation. The UG students go to all sectors--Teaching, Business, Law, Research, Sports, Wildlife, etc. The students should be given an all round knowledge of Today's world. An ASSISTANT Professor having a PhD + Publications may not know the General Studies. How will he/she Guide the UG students in regard to these other fields ? Also, one should know how to teach, ie the pedagogy of teaching. Does UG students only go for PG or Research? So, for RECRUITMENT of Assistant Professor, General studies knowledge along with NET/SLET should be Included. Having NET/SLET would check the Subject DOMAIN and General studies would check the current scenario of the Assistant Professor. THIS IS A PURE MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH. PhD /Publication should not be counted for Assistant Professor Recruitment. It can be taken for PROMOTION to ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR and above only. If Assistant Professors are busy in Research work only, who will TEACH the students??? RESEARCH and TEACHING should not be mixed up. This is my opinion.

Previously College teachers were appointed on the basis of PG digree with first class or high second class in the subject concerned. Now NET is compulsory with PhD for appointment against the post of Asst.professor . In most of the Universities and Colleges posts are vacant but appointment are not in process delayed due to various reasons. Some qualified students are working as Guest faculty or Need based Teachers on fixed amount or period basis since long. They are not qualified for Promotion to higher posts. in Universities and Colleges .Higher Education is in mess due to frequent changes in qualification required for higher posts by UGC.Now NEP 2019 with 4 years Degree course with multiple exit and entry points and one year Certificate two years Diploma and three years Degree and four years with Honours and then one year PG is vague safar employment is concerned. Just introduced in some University and Colleges. UGC has just announced that 4 years course can be completed in 2 to 2and half years by so called brilliant students without completing required studies hours for each subject and practical classes as per Curriculum. On demand Examination can be held but not classes for such students. Their knowledge of the subject will be selective not deep. Can't be able to appear in any competitive Examination and little hope of Selection. This is against NEP 2019. provisions announced earlier .Students and Teachers are confused by frequent changes in policy by UGC.in Higher Education system .

Another mockery is that in NET, qualifying is fixed based on the percentage of candidates attended (6%). All exams in India is based on percentage of marks obtained, but in NET, it’s a jock or harassment, by fixing percentage of attendees. If you score 90% marks also, you may not get qualified.

Not exactly. Exams are conducted by commission only when the number of applicants applying for the posts is really high. If the post to applicant ration is low for eg if it's 1:3 , in such situation they generally call all the applicants for the interview. That's why they are called screening tests not qualifying tests.

However, proper importance should be given to those who have worked hard to complete their Ph.D. Candidates who have only qualified for NET/JRF should be considered eligible only for the position of Assistant Professor. But those who have NET/JRF along with an M.Phil/Ph.D., research publications, and teaching experience should be eligible for the positions of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor in all three categories.

one who has spent whole life on contract basis visiting adhoc ...30 - 35 yrs teaching experience .they are not considered as professor of practise ...rest all ceos entruaprenaues awardees who do not need job are considered for this ....govt should take stand for such college professors who are visiting contract basis and adhoc faculties who already giving services in teaching and having 30 -35 yrs experience ...as institutions just ignore and discard their expertise in the subject inspite of having 30 -35 yrs teaching experience ....actually first of all such experiences faculties deserve to be professor of practise .

this is all about visiting faculty concept, which is already established in abroad. UGC is very confused about to take positive changes in higher education system. Their decision swifts very fast. before Govt created jobless masters now on the void of creating jobless PhDs.. Additionally the process of counting API score is not flawless. How could be the value of score in 10, 10+, grad level is equal both in 2020 onwards and 2000 . percentage of getting scores were less/very less before. How could UGC put all those scores equivalent? There must be equity. How could API score judge all the published papers with equal weitage. Published in Nature and in Pirated journals are equivalent in API score deduction. UGC need to first think of this.
